Nexus Literary Journal

Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

The Grace Beacham Freeman Papers documents the development of Mrs. Freeman’s career as a writer from 1948 to the 1960s as well as her relationship with various members of her family. The collection is divided into two groups. The first, her personal files, mainly includes family and personal correspondence, biographical materials, genealogical charts and histories and other papers concerning her children. The second group, her professional files, includes Mrs. Freeman’s prose, poetry, plays and radio scripts as well as correspondence with publishers, editors and Archibald Rutledge, her friend and critic. EUGENE CURRENT-GARCIA, who traces the beginnings of American short fiction in our early magazines, teaches at Auburn University, where he edits the Southern Humanities Review. He is the author of the volume on O. Henry for the Twayne series and has co-edited four anthologies of short fiction. Many of his published articles deal with American fiction.
