This essay is an in depth analysis of the poem “Detente sombra de mi bien esquivo “, by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, the most important poet of the Spanish American Baroque period. This sonnet has been traditionally interpreted as a love poem, more specifically from the Neo Platonic traditions of the European Renaissance. Some scholars have also proposed an analysis of the poem based on the mysticism. In my analysis, I propose a new interpretation based on the eroticism tradition and style. According to Theodor Adorno, “to write poetry after Auschwitz is barbaric.”¹ Of course, poetry was written during the Holocaust as well as after. More accurately, Nina Apfelbaum argued that “reading the memoirs, diaries and works of fiction written by Holocaust survivors provides another dimension to an understanding of the Holocaust.”² During the Holocaust, Jewish artists used their abilities to create works as a way to both document their everyday lives as well as to reclaim humanity in the German concentration camps.

This is a fictional podcast series that presents a story that is completed through roleplaying. The structure follows that of a video game, with the main characters, or "players," interacting with a set plot while deciding their own course of action. This capstone is a multidimensional visual narrative project that incorporates heuristic methodology to illustrate complicated grief that emerged from early childhood loss. The memoir’s intention is to exemplify grief as a complex and mutable composite response to the death of my mother. One objective of this capstone is to understand melancholy, commonly associated with mental illness or symptomatic of depression, as an aesthetic emotion as well as a conduit for philosophical reflection. Robert Underwood Johnson, author, conservationist, and diplomat, was born in New York in 1853. For more than forty years he was associated with The Century Magazine. Associate Editor under Richard Watson Gilder, he succeeded to the editorship from 1909-1913. Using the influence of The Century Magazine, Underwood, in conjunction with famed naturalist John Muir, was one of the driving forces behind the creation of Yosemite National Park in the California in 1890. In 1889, Johnson also encouraged Muir to "start an association" to help protect the Sierra Nevada, inspiring the formation of the Sierra Club in 1892. In 1920-1921 he …

Creative Writing In Digital Spaces: Digital Story Book, Christian Tipton

Oswald Research and Creativity Competition

Christian Tipton has been working with Dr. DaMaris Hill for multiple semesters now, and a majority of their projects emphasize making literature accessible for the digital generation. The Digital Storybook is a personal favorite of the two of them. This project combines the visual techniques of a traditional comic book with the contextual elements of free verse poetry. The aim for this particular project was to present poetry in a way that would capture non-traditional poetry readers and present the comic book genre in a way that would capture non-traditional comic readers.
