Our purpose is to promote the creative work of students and staff and increase awareness of the ever-present literary talent on UMSL’s campus. BRUCE DANIEL joins The Midwest Quarterly as the new Book Review Editor and replaces Michael Connaughton who, after valiant service to Pittsburg State University and to this journal, has moved on to St. Cloud University in Minnesota. Bruce Daniel is professor of physics and director of the Kelce Planetarium at Pittsburg State. He studied music at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, taught violin in Kansas City, and served nine years as concertmaster of the university symphony. He holds a B.S. degree in engineering physics, M.S. in radiation biophysics, and Ph.D. in physics …

The following paper is the description of a related arts project involving the production of a body of original work incorporating the fields of art and literature. The original work is in the form of a book containing poetry and prose-poems with illustrations. Photographs and copies of the complete work are included in this paper.

The preface deals with the three main influences on the work as a whole. These influences were C. G. Jung, Vincent Van Gogh, and Rainer Maria Rilke. Jung's views are instrumental in the psychological analysis of the work, while Van Gogh provided emotional appeal and …

Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

Auden shares with most of his contemporaries, including Yeats and Eliot, the goal of lighting modern man's way back to a sense of harmony with his universe--the certainty of identity which his ancestors enjoyed. In New Year Letter, Auden announces that the problem lies within man himself because each of us is possessed of a "double" nature, thus rendering us our own schismatics.
