Branding as a cultural production is a phenomenon that involves the creation of narratives, symbols, and identities that affect individuals and social. Through the study of material culture, this article discusses the representation of a person's lifestyle and self-identification in meeting the needs of smartphones with the iPhone brand. Using the literature study method, social media data on the internet shows that there is a business service strategy in the form of savings or social gathering in buying an iPhone to consumers. This article examines Tek Seng Bio (德圣庙) Temple within the context of the temple as the symbol of local history among Chinese Indonesians in Cikarang. Established in 1900 by Tjio Lo Weh (蒋維内) from Fujian, the temple marked the inception of a Chinese settlement in North Cikarang. Unique in its devotion to Lín Tài Shī Gōng/Liem Tay Soe Kong (林太师公) as their main deity, Tek Seng Bio Temple originally functioned as a private familial place of worship. Recently, social media like Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook have been widely used for tourism destination attractiveness. The research investigates how to create a tourism destination image on Instagram from a social semiotic perspective. Data comprises 17 photos of Blue Flame posted by 7 Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs). Applying the Visual Grammar framework by Kress & Leeuwen (2021), particularly the representational meta function, and Speech Functions by Halliday & Matthiessen (2014), this study finds how verbal texts support visual modes in creating the image of the Blue Flame at Ijen Geopark. In Indonesia Multatuli's Max Havelaar is regarded as a powerful indictment of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia. Extensive research has explored the novel's historical context, social critique, and its influence on Indonesian nationalism, but less attention has been paid to the literary devices that give the novel its enduring emotional power. This paper examines the Ritual Entas-entas as a purification ceremony for spirits in Wonotoro Village, Tengger. The ritual originates from a manuscript believed to aid in purifying the spirits of deceased family members. This ritual has been passed down orally. The increasing global demand for vegetable oils and biofuels is a determining factor in increasing oil palm expansion in Indonesia. The current studies of Indonesia's oil palm expansion focus on companies' large-scale land acquisition. This thesis is an interdisciplinary exploration into identity, self, and meaning-making. Engaging queer studies, Chicano/a Studies, narrative therapy, creative nonfiction, and visual arts, this project is both a collage and self-portrait in two parts. Part one uses the ideas of philosophers Gloria Anzaldúa, María Lugones, Jack Halberstam, and Judith Butler to explore identity formation in the author’s family and social contexts. Part two follows the experience of having C-PTSD and uses memoir and creative writing to explore the narrative therapeutic mode. My artwork is situated within and around vessels and the Queer Homoerotic World and explores sexuality as a Demisexual within them. This is accomplished through the two processes of my creation, Minivague and Queerform/ing: balancing sexual tension and explicit expression, while subverting traditional norms and stereotypes with queerness to distance oneself from stereotypical Gay Art. Despite oil’s heavy saturation within the context of contemporary global life, novelistic registrations of oil frontiers and extractive drilling in contemporary world literature remain proportionally barren with regards to oil’s political and geographical importance across the world-system. Petro-cultural production, transnational in scale and imposing in material basis, relegates oil to a paradoxical literary deferment. The general invisibility of petrofiction within the petro-sphere suggests that the materialist basis of petroleum and its fraught geopolitical history has culturally transformed oil into a repressed, peripheral, and hidden material that subsequently renders the oil-encounter unseen in contemporary literature. Misogyny is hatred, contempt, or prejudice against women or girls. It is a form of sexism used to keep women in a lower social status than men, thereby maintaining patriarchal social roles. Hegemonic masculinity is the most exalted configuration of gender practices that legitimizes patriarchy. This article draws on the framework of Raewyn Connell's theory of masculinity and Kate Manne's concept of misogyny to discuss the phenomenon of Indonesian TikTok videos with the hashtag “Pick Me Boy” or #Pick Me Boy. Absent But Present: Propaganda Strategies Of The Japanese Occupation In Indonesia As Narrated In Kamishibai In Djawa Baroe Magazine, Rouli Esther Pasaribu
International Review of Humanities Studies
This paper investigated the propaganda strategies in kamishibai (a paper play) story telling in Djawa Baroe Magazine. This study employed text analysis methods and propaganda theories from Jowett and Donnell on the seven kamishibai and found the following propaganda strategies. First, Western powers were portrayed negatively. Second, Japan was not explicitly featured in kamishibai stories. Third, local cultural elements in Javanese culture were used to convey propaganda messages. These findings indicate that entertainment media, such as kamishibai, can be used as propaganda media and subtly inserted using specific trivial strategies.

This study aims to identify the impact of the development of tourist areas on culinary businesses by taking the case of the program for the construction of facilities and infrastructure supporting tourism villages which was implemented starting in 2017 and looking at the influence of regional disparities on the effectiveness of assistance which is then compared between the regions of Java-Bali and outside Java-Bali. Using the Difference-In-Differences (DID), the study analyzed the impact of the support program on 115 tourism villages, comparing them to other tourism villages in the same sub-district that did not receive support. In 2022, based on Google Trends tools, Indonesia is ranked third as the country with the most searches related to Japanese anime. Wibu is a term that refers to someone who is outside Japan but likes and even tends to be obsessed with the culture of that country. This research aims explore how stereotypes of Wibu in Indonesia are constructed by digital media, specifically YouTube.
