Explorations Of Liminality And Intersectionality In Tabletop Games, Alyna Kim
Explorations Of Liminality And Intersectionality In Tabletop Games, Alyna Kim
Honors Thesis
In fantasy role-playing games (RPGs), especially tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs), participants are required to collaborate to create not only fantasy personas in the shape of characters, but also the world and space that makes up the game itself. Participants therefore create a sense of both time and space that exist outside of basic reality. The created space and time––referred to as a world or a story––exists as a liminal space that participants and characters use as a tool to both exist and explore. While the participants exist physically in the real world, the game space allows them to go beyond …

When Valerie Solanas Shot Andy Warhol: A Feminist Tale Of Madness And Revolution, Phyllis Chesler
Dignity: A Journal of Analysis of Exploitation and Violence
In 1967 Valerie Solanas published the Society for Cutting Up Men (the SCUM) Manifesto. She shot artist Andy Warhol in 1968. They found a smart, very paranoid woman who was a decided loner. Ultimately, Solanas would not work with Atkinson and Kennedy; she refused to allow them to help her or explain …

The Complexities Of Intimacy, Brie Henderson
Graduate School of Art Theses

Of these complexities, I chose to explore the topics attachment and codependency in my final series. Attachment and codependency are deeply rooted in psychology, poetry, and many artist’s practices. The relationship between poetry and my work has become deeply intertwined. I combine poetry with my work as a way to document my feelings and to inspire the titles for my paintings. Through a series of intimate watercolor paintings, I reference bodies, intimate interactions and the ambiguity within the two. This ambiguity asks viewers …

We cooked macaroni and cheese. It was the perfect time to have a girls’ night. Candace loved to stir the block of butter, milk and packaged cheese in the pot once I finished draining it.
“Okay,” she grunted. “It’s done, Mommy.”
She walked over to the sink and washed her hands. I plucked a noodle from the pot and licked the cheese from my fingertips.
“Get the lemonade,” I told her.
I picked up the pot and separated it into three bowls while Candace filled two glasses with lemonade. “Grab some napkins.”
“I got them,” she answered. “Come on. It’s …
