The Year-Long Adventures Of The Blue Shoes & Their Friends, Michael R. Hill

While participating in a Teacher Workshop organized by Georgina Valverde at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013, Michael Hill began a one-year artistic and pedagogical odyssey making original images (always featuring some aspect of one or more athletic shoes) and posting them daily to a visual blog he created to help kick-start writing projects among the many student athletes he tutored at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Taking In is a juried annual student-run publication that showcases the best of LUCAD undergraduate photography and video. The project focuses on the business of promoting art and culminates each year with a juried exhibition, publication, and website all designed to promote selected works of AIB artists. The selected pieces were chosen anonymously by a jury of distinguished members of the Boston art community. The book in your hand is the end result of a collective effort by those in the class.

Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

The Art of Mildred G. Burrage is the catalogue from the Portland Campus UNE Art Gallery’s March 26, 2016—June 26, 2016 exhibition of curated artwork by Mildred G. Burrage.

Earle G. Shettleworth, Jr. and Sally W. Rand curated the exhibition, which traces the 65-year career of Mildred Giddings Burrage (1890-1983), one of Maine’s most creative 20th century artists. Her many genres included American Impressionism, patriotic posters, portraits, historic maps, southwest and Central American flora and World War II shipbuilding.
