Finding aid and scan (Click on "additional files" below) for Manuscripts Small Collection 625. Photocopies of records – letters, lists, autobiographies – pertaining to Ivan Wilson of Hazel, Kentucky, an art teacher at Western Kentucky University for years and an artist, whose paintings were sold through the Kentucky Museum from 1955-1973. These transactions were handled and the records kept by Gayle Carver, Kentucky Museum curator.

Finding aid and representative scans of over 200 items (Click on "additional files" below) for Manuscripts Small Collection 609. Papers relating to Martine (Calhoun) Thornberry’s position as postmaster at Livermore, McLean County, Kentucky; papers relating to the duties as postmaster and to keeping the position when a change in political parties occurred in 1954. Also some references to her work as a teacher on Indian reservations, 1927-1938, 1947-1950, and as the first woman from Kentucky to become a Marine officer, 1943-1945, 1954.

A Virtual Tour Of Wku’S Main Campus, Zachary Ryle

Mahurin Honors College Capstone Experience/Thesis Projects

In my WKU Honors College Capstone Experience entitled “A Virtual Tour of WKU’s Main Campus,” my task was to create a virtual tour students across the state, country and even around the world could use to view WKU’s campus without ever setting foot in Bowling Green. Throughout this experience, I filmed myself giving individual tour of over 60 different locations on WKU’s campus, with a total of 72 buildings and locations earning markers on the campus map. This virtual tour was created during the summer of 2011 and was completed by November of that same year. Once completed, Admissions Counselors …

“East Meets West”: Symphony Television Production, Nathanael Hovee

Mahurin Honors College Capstone Experience/Thesis Projects

“East Meets West”: Symphony Television Production is a multi-camera broadcasting project covering WKU Symphony’s live performance titled “East Meets West” in Van Meter Hall on March 16, 2012. The project involved recording the WKU Symphony’s ninety-minute live performance using seven professional high-definition cameras throughout the auditorium and directing camera operators from the television control booth. The footage from each camera was synced in post-production and edited down for regional broadcast and distribution. The final video includes a majority of the pieces presented during the performance on March 16, as well as brief informative interviews with members of the WKU Symphony. …

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Collection 383. Transcripts, notes, and cassette tapes for interviews conducted by Dr. Wilford Fridy with individuals who knew or knew about John Wesley Venable, Jr., the person on whom Robert Penn Warren based the character Bolton Lovehart in his novella "Circus in the Attic." Interviews mention other people and places that Warren knew in Todd County, Kentucky. Also includes tapes of Robert Penn Warren giving a speech, reading some of his work, and an interview with Warren.
