The movement had gained substantial support, and thus there was large interest from news agencies. This letter was meant to help solidify numbers and information for news agencies hoping to attend the conference so that they could properly plan and accommodate.

Pauline King Harned was born in Leighton, Alabama on August 13, 1877, and attended Belmont College for Young Women from 1893-1898. She created this scrapbook to document her time as a student. After graduating from Belmont College, she worked briefly as a bookkeeper at F.R. King & Co. before she married Frederic T. Harned on December 27, 1899, in Alabama. They later moved to Kentucky and then Mississippi where Fred worked as a farmer and the pair had four children, Ben K, Frances Porter (1902-1910), Mary Ethel (Isele), and Fred Harned. Bishop Milton Wright, father of Wilbur and Orville Wright, regularly recorded entries in his diary from 1857 until his death in 1917. This diary’s entries began on January 1890 and continue until December 1890. Wright records a variety of information regarding his travels, family history, and expenditures. Of particular note, this diary includes a record of Wilbur and Orville converting the West Side News into the Evening Item, and Paul Laurence Dunbar starts the Tattler.
