The expression of tense is a universal characteristic of natural languages. Each one has a linguistic resource to locate the process on the tense axis in relation to the speaker's present or in relation to other processes. In this contribution, we propose, from the description of a corpus of simple verbal sentences, to identify some temporal values rendered by the verbal forms composed of the auxiliary kan (to be) and the verbal predicate in Moroccan Arabic (AM). This article focuses on the impact of linguistic representations and French language skills on the academic and professional trajectory of students at the Moroccan university. The objective is to study how these two variables appear, interact, and influence students’ academic and professional success. To do so, we rely on an analysis of the results of a questionnaire survey conducted among a sample of students from the Faculty of Sharia in Agadir, part of Ibn Zohr University. This research analyzes the impact of the territorialization of public policies in Morocco, focusing on INDH (National Initiative for Human Development) projects within the Al Haouz province. Utilizing a qualitative approach (interviews and field observations), the study evaluates the effectiveness of this mechanism in reducing local disparities. While the results indicate improved access to basic services, they also reveal major flaws: the capture of resources by local elites, the exclusion of vulnerable populations, and a lack of sustainability. By examining the role of the narrator, transformed into a sofa, and the use of the Oriental frame, this article seeks to understand how Crébillon fils invites the reader to critically reflect on morality, desire, and social conventions, while manipulating the audience’s expectations. This volume explores the reconfigurations of social, narrative, and linguistic structures in Morocco and Africa through a multidisciplinary lens. By combining literary analysis (subversion of codes), development sociology (INDH), and gender studies (digital agency), the contributions decrypt the tension between institutional persistence and emancipatory praxis. Drawing on a rigorous qualitative methodology, this work examines the capacity of actors to reinvest in power spaces and vectors of symbolic capital.

This text explores gender inequalities in Morocco by articulating patriarchal continuity and attempts at destabilization through gender studies. It takes as its starting point the pioneering initiative of Fatima Sadiqi, who founded the first women's research center (1996) and the first gender studies unit (2000) at the University of Fez. These structures aimed to introduce the concept of gender into the humanities and social sciences to deconstruct sociocultural obstacles to equality. Since then, the integration of similar programs in other universities has strengthened the visibility of these issues in higher education. This article argues for the importance of collecting works created by children—not just about and not just for—in formal archival collections. Framed through the ideas of legitimate knowledge and epistemic injustice, this piece combines notions important to children’s rights activists and childhood studies scholars with the role archives can play in preserving children’s knowledge through child-created materials. The authors describe how researchers struggle to find work created by children within archives, impacting the ability to create child-centered research that centers children’s views of the world as prominently as adult views of the world. Avoiding sensationalism, Hoffman examines McPherson’s triumphs, contradictions, and mysterious disappearance with nuance and respect, resulting in a balanced yet compelling and well contextualized biography.

In Sufism, fana’ refers to the dissolution of the self, the annihilation of the ego as one transcends individuality. While traditionally a spiritual concept, fana’ also offers a powerful humanistic metaphor for psychological transformation. The Flexi Disc, popular between the 1960s and 1990s, was an innovative product which brought decades of cheap music distribution to the homes of many Americans. Within the Plastic Artifacts Collection at Syracuse University are several flexi discs used as advertising, ranging from current musical artists to large food chains preserved in mailing envelopes from several decades of the 1900's. Observing these artifacts provided data and information to answer the question: how were flexi discs able to be manufactured at such low costs while maintaining a profitable market? Jack Milgrom was a plastics researcher and consultant, publishing reports on the marketability of plastics, packaging, and recycling, several of which can be found in SU’s SCRC. Through Milgrom’s work, I ask how responsibility for plastic waste landed on the shoulders of consumers and not manufacturers during the peak of environmentalism. Milgrom’s reports offer a timeline as to how the plastics industry shifted its language and marketing methods to mirror the goals of environmentalism. By analyzing this shift against environmental writings of the time, which demonstrate an urgency to handle plastic waste, Milgrom reveals an awareness of what consumers want, …

Plastics emerged after World War II as a material associated with progress, cleanliness, and possibility. In medicine, plastic replaced fragile glass tools and enabled inexpensive, standardized production of devices such as syringes and medicine dispensers. This project strengthens the Syracuse University Department of Drama’s ability to document its theatrical productions through high-quality digital photography. With support from the SOURCE grant, the department acquired updated photography equipment that enables students to capture clearer, more accurate images of performances. These photographs document acting, staging, costumes, sets, and lighting in a professional and archival manner.

The Justice Implications Of Public-School Discipline For African American Students In The Usa, Dr. Demeka Denay Simmons, Dr. Festus Obi

African Journal of Criminology and Justice Studies

National data illustrates that using exclusionary discipline practices has resulted in disproportionality and overrepresentation in school discipline. Additionally, research also illustrates that African Americans have been overrepresented in exclusionary discipline at higher rates than their White counterparts. This study aimed to determine if there was a statistically significant difference in the percentage of exclusionary discipline practices between African American and White students based on school district settings within Texas. The researchers analyzed archival data from 673 students in grades 3-12 enrolled in a Texas public school. The statistical tests used to analyze the research questions included Chi-Square and multinomial logistic …
