The Influence Of Shopping Context And Anthropocentric Bias On Consumer Preferences For Human And Ai Designers In Fashion, Dooyoung Choi, Ha Kyung Lee, Christina Soyoung Song, Ji Young Lee

This study explores how shopping contexts (hedonic vs. utilitarian) influence consumer preferences for AI- vs. human-designed fashion products. In Study 1, participants with hedonic motivations preferred human-designed items, while those with utilitarian motivations preferred AI-designed products, supporting the hypothesis that shopping context affects designer preferences. Study 2 further investigates the mediation of competence-warmth traits in designer preferences and the moderation of anthropocentric bias. It finds that hedonic shopping contexts increase the desire for warmth-related traits, leading to a preference for human designers, while utilitarian contexts favor competence-related traits and AI designs. This article contributes to the emergent literature on motherhood in neoliberal higher education by proposing liberatory motherhood as a theoretical framework and praxis to deconstruct and reconstruct motherhood in the neoliberal academy. The author, an early-career immigrant woman scholar of color, uses feminist autoethnography to critically examine the disempowering, disembodying, and departicularizing effects of neoliberal subjectivation on motheracademics, foregrounding her lived experiences of caregiving in her analysis. She approaches academic motherhood through a prismatic lens of a pluralistic feminist rhetorical analysis that emphasizes interrelationality, tracing her experiences of caring and producing otherwise as a way to signal opportunities to reembody …

Over the last few years, there has been a surge in anti-LGBTQIA+ and, specifically, anti-transgender, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming legislation. These laws target the rights of LGBTQIA+ students in K–12 schools, leading to policies censoring gender-inclusive curricula, mandating the outing of students, and restricting transgender students’ access to sports and facilities. The rapid emergence of these bills has outpaced research on how leaders—particularly justice-centred leaders—navigate these hostile policy contexts. Existing research taking a broader lens around leaders’ justice work in schools sheds light on how leaders engage in covert advocacy within complex and constraining contexts. This article examines the role of religion in the Republic of Georgia, emphasizing the historical and contemporary influence of the Georgian Orthodox Church (GOC) on the nation’s identity, politics, and society. Drawing on multiple sources, including the U.S. Department of State’s 2023 Report on International Religious Freedom: Georgia, the Central Intelligence Agency’s World Factbook, and works by Giuli Alasania, Ramaz Shengelia, Lika Kobeshavidze, and Stephen R. Hussar, this study analyzes the religious demographics of Georgia and the relationship between church and state. This research paper overlooks the disproportionate number of missing persons and violence towards Indigenous groups, particularly women. Communication research has pointed to mass media lacking coverage on missing or murdered cases of Indigenous people, contributing to invisibility of the issue and lack of attention to the problem. Individual efforts to increase sources of information have been utilized in social media to make up for where mass media lacks. Social media creators who look to raise awareness, mobilize grassroot actions, and expand community ties. This study explores the potential of active attention objects embedded with technologies such as LEDs to enhance focus and calmness in individuals with inattentive ADHD, particularly in classroom settings. Individuals with inattentive ADHD often struggle with irritability, stress, and panic attacks when exposed to external stimuli such as loud sounds, varying light intensities, strong smells, or physical sensations, which significantly hinders their ability to concentrate and remain composed. My literature review discovered a connection between an individual’s blinking pattern and their focus, and my work explores how to design active attention objects to engage with blinking as a focus tactic. …

This dissertation theorizes and enacts experimental storytelling as a method for engaging transgenerational trauma, highlighting how form shapes the ways histories are remembered, embodied, and reimagined across generations. Grounded in hope rehearsal as both a theoretical and creative framework, this project examines how BIPOC writers use experimental writing techniques to navigate the afterlives of historical trauma and reclaim storytelling as an act of meaning-making, communal care, and futurity. This thesis examines film depictions of the American Civil War in the early 1910s. In this time period, around three hundred films about the Civil War were released by American film companies. My thesis studies the cultural themes in these films and public response to them in order to understand why so many were made in such a short period of time. This thesis is primarily concerned with the field of Civil War memory. The Bracero Program led to the breakdown of domestic roles, disruptions of female and Braceros’ partnerships with women, and the creation of new friendships among the male Braceros themselves. After the Braceros left for their work contracts in the United States, Mexican women took on additional responsibilities that were customarily done by their husband. In contrast, the Braceros had to undertake domestic chores in their temporary labor camps that their wives would have generally done in Mexico. The great Alexander Campbell, an influential figure of the Restoration Movement, is historically regarded as a fiery orator, minister, and evangelical Protestant. Much of the historiography surrounding Campbell rightfully focuses on his adamant efforts to proliferate his ideology. His scorching personality brought him into conflict with members of every Christian sect. Still, Campbell’s focus on unity allowed him to make general concessions with his fellow Christians. He was often congenial and sociable when engaging with Christians, and even atheists, who held opinions that differed from his own. Mao Zedong led one of the most successful peasant rebellions in human history, changing the global stage of politics forever. Analysis of the 30 year war between Mao’s CCP and the Nationalist Party regime, led by Chiang Kai-shek, reveals the vital role of the Chinese peasant class as a force for revolution. Through ideological pedagogy, Mao formed a highly loyal army that in turn transformed him into a premier political figure of the 20th century, both hated and revered. His story informs the modern field of comparative politics as to how intrastate conflicts rely on sub-state actors for their success.

The post-war disability rights movement's momentum was largely driven by the influx of disabled veterans and the sudden need for a larger post-war workforce. Recent scholarship suggests that the origins of the movement extend beyond the societal upheavals of the 1960s and 1970s, reaching back to the early 1940s and even the 1930s.; In Out of the Horrors of War: Disability Politics in World War II America, Audra Jennings argues that World War II was pivotal in transforming societal attitudes toward disability, with demand for wartime labor and the visibility of disabled veterans catalyzing these changes. Many southern states, excluding Texas and Florida, have reported significantly lower annual GDP than other American subregions since the Civil War and Reconstruction. Furthermore, some recent articles show a correlation between southern states with higher levels of poverty and those who fought on the side of the Confederacy. Several sources make a logical argument that the South is still in the process of equilibrating to the economic norm, and the continuation of certain economic principles has prolonged that process further.
