Christians need a Bible-based tool to help them move from emotionally dysregulated to emotionally regulated. Instead of processing their emotions, some Christians have a tendency to ignore and suppress their emotions, which can lead to poor mental health, unfulfilling relationships, and emotionally dysregulated behaviors such as overeating, rage, and various addictions. This doctoral project explored theological, literary, and field research to create a tool to help Christians move from feeling emotionally dysregulated to emotionally regulated. The biblical examples of God, Jesus, the Prophet Elijah, and King David were combined with secular research on emotional granularity, gratitude journaling, confession, and prayer, …

The mental health crisis has been negatively affecting individuals across the globe for about half a century, only growing in its impact each year. However, following the Covid-19 pandemic, mental health crises skyrocketed. This is especially true for youth and young adults as physical isolation has altered many facets of their lives. This thesis will explore the mental health crisis, as well as the way it has impacted youth and young adult organizations. Following a partnership with gaming giant EA Sports, Spanish top-flight soccer league La Liga has begun to include various digitized elements reminiscent of video games in the broadcasts of their matches. This sponsorship has allowed La Liga to set itself apart from competitors through the creation of a unique viewing experience while simultaneously selling EA's product. Using aspects of media convergence theory, this project aims to explore the growing relationship between video games and live sports. Typical prison media, while purporting to represent incarceration and its social meaning to the public, transforms lived realities of state-sanctioned violence into entertainment spectacle and operates under strict material and ideological constraints that prevent it from meaningfully questioning the legitimacy and function of the prison as a built institution. The television series Severance (2022), however, represents incarceration in the form of the dystopian office-prison where the innies are trapped, employing metaserial and science fictional narrative mechanisms to critically implicate the spectator. Exploring the historic and ongoing impact of settler colonialism in the Antelope Valley, this thesis argues the Tataviam, Kawaiisu, Kitanemuk, and Vanyume, the aboriginal tribes of the valley, are effectively erased from the valley’s narrative and imagination. Through a series of genocidal and colonization efforts, first from Mission San Fernando and then from the California State Government and arrival of Anglo American settlers, the valley’s tribes can be subjugated to acculturation, displacement, massacres, and marginalization. Recognizing the valley's moral responsibility to platform their living descendants, the thesis proposes a path forward through decolonization, calling out local governments (Lancaster and Palmdale) …

European right-wing populist (RWP) parties are increasingly touting their attention to women’s issues and representation, and this has coincided with stronger electoral performances. Thus, the following puzzles emerge: how have RWP parties harnessed gender frames, issue salience, and women’s representation as part of a mainstreaming process, and through what mechanisms are these strategies resonating with voters? I address these questions by comparing France’s Rassemblement National (RN) and Italy’s Fratelli d’Italia (FdI), tracing their developments from the mid-twentieth century to the present day. For my thesis, I have the ambition of creating a sort of guide on the treatment and analysis of this model guillotine, first by filling in some historical background about the object, informed by prisoner accounts and scholarship around similar Napoleonic bone models. As well as the materiality of the object, which will be discovered through instrumental analysis using a Microfadeometer to test for light sensitivity of the bone itself and the colored pigments present and a Scanning Electron Microscope/Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy to attempt to test for the classification of said pigments. This thesis focuses on the intersections of collaborative and artistic interventions (such as collective songwriting and poetry) within the ongoing fight to legalize and decriminalize street vending in Los Angeles. Through the close partnership with Community Power Collective (CPC), this thesis analyzes the use of narrative in artistic collaborations and oral traditions throughout the political mobilization of street vendors in Los Angeles. Through an interdisciplinary approach, this investigation explores the use of early influences of street theater, to collective songwriting workshops, as well as artistic collaborations with local artists. As we enter the final week of the baseball season, it might be time to reflect on the state of the game. This is generally the point in the season when there is a rash of jeremiads on the condition and health of the former national pastime. Baseball people seem to always see the game in decline. Over the years, I have dismissed these as overblown and off the mark, because generally they are. Despite studies showing that women play video games at close to, if not the same rates as men, there still lies a sexist belief that games are only for men, and no one else. Gender-based violence (GBV) is a term commonly used to describe harm inflicted upon individuals due to gendered power inequalities. In Malawi, GBV remains a significant barrier to achieving gender justice, with its pervasive nature hindering progress in areas such as health, education, and economic empowerment. This research explores the dynamics of GBV in Malawi through the experiences of advocates working to address the issue. Using semi-structured interviews and qualitative data analysis, the study investigates the prevalent forms of GBV, its root causes, and the far-reaching impacts it has on individuals and communities. This study sought to understand the effectiveness of restorative leadership development and coaching in parent or caregiver differentiation of self in chronically conflicted family systems experiencing chronic absenteeism or truancy. This mixed method study employed a program evaluation approach that examines parent pre- and post-survey results after engaging with The Parent Line over nine weeks. A third-party statistician collected and analyzed the data to provide research transparency. This article examines the use of religious memory and identity in the diplomatic correspondence of Ivan IV (Ivan the Terrible), particularly his letters to the Polish-Lithuanian nobility. Through a detailed analysis of these letters, the article demonstrates how Ivan IV invoked Orthodox Christian imagery, sacred history, and references to past Christian rulers to legitimize his reign and justify his political actions, such as military campaigns and territorial expansion. Ivan’s correspondence not only reflects his self-presentation as a divinely appointed ruler but also illustrates how religious rhetoric played a crucial role in constructing Orthodox kingship and shaping Russian national identity. The article is dedicated to analyzing the PR activities of Muslim organizations in Slovakia, taking into account the political, social, and communicative context. The authors explore the impact of digital technologies on religious communication, examining the use of social media and traditional media to shape the public image of Islamic organizations. Significant attention is given to the issue of islamophobia and the informational strategies aimed at overcoming negative stereotypes about Muslims.
