Climate Change And Cities: A Study Of Influence And Vulnerability, Adnan Kadhem Jabbar Al-Shaibani
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
This research argues that the climate change the world is witnessing is a result of the increase in the size of cities resulting from the large increase in the number of urban populations. This has resulted in cities becoming the primary source of carbon dioxide emissions, as studies that have attempted to investigate the causes of the change indicate that they are responsible for 75-80% of total emissions worldwide, and the transportation, industry, and agriculture-related activities are the most responsible for generating carbon dioxide gas. The situation remains as it is without global action makes the dangers facing cities realizable, …

Uae – Iran Political Relations 1971 – 1981, Hussein Kamil Jaber Alshahir
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
The countries of the Arabian Gulf, particularly those newly established, faced border issues with most neighboring countries, including the United Arab Emirates, which was founded in 1971. It experienced both internal and external problems. What concerns us in this context is its foreign relations. In its early days, the UAE faced border issues with Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman over the Buraimi Oasis and with Iran over the three islands. A country the size of the UAE could not resolve its issues with these major countries except through diplomatic means. Therefore, it pursued two paths: the first was …

Wars Of Position: The Construction Of An Antifascist Public Sphere In Spain, 1931-1939, Carter David Barnwell
History ETDs
This dissertation explores antifascist culture in Spain during the decade of the 1930s, and the ways in which it was developed and disseminated by a host of intellectuals and activists under the Second Republic from 1931-1939. In considering parliamentary addresses, performative speech acts, election propaganda, public demonstrations, newspaper and journal articles, multi-media art, and photographs, the study demonstrates how political and cultural leaders came to define and understand “antifascism” and what they hoped to achieve by embracing this term. An antifascist culture developed amongst broad elements of the Spanish political left and center under the Second Republic, which came to …

Segundo Congreso Internacional De Iconografía Precolombina, 2023. Actas, Victòria Solanilla Demestre
Zea E-Books Collection

The Borders Of Embodiment: Transgression, Transformation, And Corporeality In Chicanx Speculative Fiction, Chrysta Carson Wilson
The Borders Of Embodiment: Transgression, Transformation, And Corporeality In Chicanx Speculative Fiction, Chrysta Carson Wilson
English Language and Literature ETDs
This dissertation develops a clearer vision of Chicanx Speculative Fiction (SF) as its own genre anchored to the experiences and histories of the Chicanx community, with a particular interest in the avenues through which race and gender shape the experience of embodiment. SF resists hegemonic narratives that justify racial hierarchies and reveals both the cultural and concrete pressures exerted on Chicanx bodies in the United States as a minoritized and often exploited community. Furthermore, my analysis illustrates that Chicanx writers utilize elements of SF to defamiliarize traditional notions of race, class, and nationality. Through the use of defamiliarization, Chicanx SF …
The Early Proclamation Of The Resurrection As A Compelling Evidence For The Historicity Of The Resurrection: A Historical Inquiry Of The Resurrection Miracle, Marina Gordo Lyle
The Early Proclamation Of The Resurrection As A Compelling Evidence For The Historicity Of The Resurrection: A Historical Inquiry Of The Resurrection Miracle, Marina Gordo Lyle
Masters Theses
The resurrection's historicity has been mainly defended through Jesus's empty tomb and postmortem appearances, which testify more to the resurrection belief of the first Christians than to the resurrection as a historical fact. The early proclamation of the resurrection is a minimal fact often overlooked when defending the resurrection's historicity. Nevertheless, it forms a compelling case for the resurrection as a historical fact through a type of proclamation that emerged at Pentecost, with immediate effects best explained by Jesus's resurrection. Indeed, Pentecost's effects in time include the church's birth and rapid expansion through miracles that only took place once the …
Beings-In-Becoming: A Formative Critique Of Schellenberg's Problem Of Divine Hiddenness, Isaiah Parker
Beings-In-Becoming: A Formative Critique Of Schellenberg's Problem Of Divine Hiddenness, Isaiah Parker
Masters Theses
This thesis aims to show that Schellenberg's problem of divine hiddenness fails as an argument for atheism because his assumptions about, and understanding of, what constitutes belief does not account for the nuanced and complex understanding of belief formation presented in contemporary psychology and recently developed dynamic liminal-belief frameworks. This paper argues that Schellenberg has been immodest in his robust claims regarding the existence of a cognitive state of nonresistant unbelief. In other words, he has misdiagnosed the human condition of doubt by unnecessarily holding to a narrow definition of belief. The complexity of belief formation necessitates a holistic credence …
