Abstract

Romance for Trombone and Piano by Carl Maria von Weber is one of the most pivotal works of trombone repertoire today. This piece is an important piece to study for many trombonists today as it embodies many fundamental characteristics of German Romantic music, including: increased chromaticism, elaborate harmonic progressions, and increased emotional expression. In my presentation, I discuss how Romance for Trombone and Piano utilizes the concepts of ambiguity and chromatic voice leading progressions to create a sense of longing, desire and instability. Many photographers don’t realize their ability and opportunity to give back and make a difference. I believe photography extends beyond taking a series of photographs. For me, it is my way of serving others, connecting with people, and sharing their stories. I believe photography is a powerful tool to inspire change in communities—especially in those that are underserved. Art pluralism is the view that there is no single, correct account of what art is. Instead, art is understood through a plurality of art concepts and with considerations that are different for particular arts. Although avowed pluralists have retained the word “art” in their discussions, it is natural to ask whether the considerations that motivate pluralism should lead us to abandon art talk altogether; that is, should pluralism lead to eliminativism? Mark Twain wrote in 1903, "[w]henever a copyright law is to be made or altered, then the idiots assemble."¹ The expansion of copyright protection has made copyright law the most important legal regulation in the field of entertainment law.² As a result of stricter regulation through judicial verdicts, music copyright disputes have left inequitable resolutions for artists of all backgrounds.³ This Article suggests a twofold, alternative approach to litigation in resolving music copyright infringement disputes: (1) the use of Expert Determination (ED) through the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to evaluate "substantial similarity" at the trial level, …

The transitional phase of emerging adulthood signifies a pivotal period for young women as they embark on the journey of self-discovery, distinct from their familial roots. This developmental epoch significantly challenges their faith formation and the establishment of a Christ-centered identity, often influencing decisions to depart from their Christian faith and congregations in pursuit of acceptance and purpose elsewhere. In response, this project seeks to facilitate mentored development of Christ-centered identity in emerging adult Christian women ages 18-25, congruent with their faith, while navigating transitions and influences challenging their professed and lived out faith in Jesus Christ.

The NPO statement which guided this Doctoral Project is missionaries need a safe space and attuned guidance to renew spiritually from spiritual abuse suffered in the course of vocational missions work. Key insights which emerged from research found that spiritual abuse happens among missionaries while serving overseas which causes a deformation of their spiritual life. That deformation results in doubting or dismissing the relationship they once experienced with Jesus. Spiritual healing, a reformation of their spirituality, is possible in a safe guided community. This research critically investigates the public diplomacy strategies deployed by a cohort of influential female European leaders on Twitter during the Russo-Ukrainian War of 2022-2023. The study comprises eight leaders - Kallas (Estonia), Marin (Finland), von der Leyen (President of the European Commission), Metsola (President of the European Parliament), Sandu (Moldova), Simonyte (Lithuania), Zourabichvili (Georgia), and Meloni (Italy) - representing millions of constituents. Mahurin Honors College Capstone Experience/Thesis Projects

This project evaluates the accessibility of cave tours in Mammoth Cave National Park for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community (DHHC). The study was advertised to the DHHC with the use of flyers through the Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, First Baptist Church Bowling Green’s Deaf Ministry, WKU social media, and directly to visitors who contacted the park seeking services. Willing participants either joined a group tour or reserved their own cave tour, requesting necessary accommodations. Following these tours, a survey was given inquiring about participants’ general experience with Mammoth Cave, whether all their needs …
