The numbers on the screen read that it was 8:30. Just a few moments ago I was awoken by a sudden alarm from my phone. I stared at the screen and a scowl formed on my face. I knew that my 8:00 alarm had not awoken me or if the 8:00 alarm even worked. Anyway, I unplugged my grey rectangle from its long, white charger. I sat up in my bed with my brown and orange blanket still covering me. I looked forward towards the wall.

This article explores how disabled girl handlers crip girlhood on service dog tok, the emergent subculture on TikTok comprised of disabled handlers who upload and post videos about their everyday life in partnership with a service dog. Looking at the TikTok accounts and self-representational practices of three disabled girl handlers—Ava of @avaandcheddar, Claire of @rosie.the.sd, and Lexy of @muslimservicedogmom28—this article traces how their videos evince an audio–visual representation of interspecies intimacy, a becoming with, that complicates the familiar story of the disabled girl handler/service dog dyad that one might see or scroll past online—one of rehabilitative exceptionalism, disability disavowal, and …

The Rhetorical Mediator: Understanding Agency In Indigenous Translation And Interpretation Through Indigenous Approaches To Ux, Nora K. Rivera

The Rhetorical Mediator reveals how and why scholars and user experience (UX) researchers can include Indigenous technical communicators and oral interpretation practices in their interdisciplinary conversations. Nora Rivera analyzes the challenges that Indigenous interpreters and translators face in Peru, Mexico, and the United States as a means of understanding their agency and examines the various ways in which technical and professional communication, translation and interpreting studies, and UX research can better support the practices of Indigenous interpreters and translators.

The Charge Forward: An Assessment Of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure In New York City, Christopher S. Cali

The federal and local New York City (NYC) governments are actively promoting Electric Vehicles (EVs). This capstone project assesses the state of EV charging infrastructure in NYC and its readiness for EV growth. NYC faces unique challenges due to its dense population and limited space for infrastructure. There's a significant disparity between the number of gas pumps and fast EV chargers in the city, with only 170 Level 3/DC (Direct Current) Fast Chargers publicly available. These Level 3 chargers are most important because they can charge an EV in 15 minutes; Level 2 chargers, also considered in the analysis, take …
