This volume builds on recent scholarship on contemporary poetry in relation to medieval literature, focusing on postmodern poets who work with the medieval in a variety of ways. Such recent projects invert or “queer” the usual transactional nature of engagements with older forms of literature, in which readers are asked to exchange some small measure of bewilderment at archaic language or forms for a sense of having experienced a medieval text. The literature surrounding children's language attitudes has blossomed in recent years, but little is known about modern children's attitudes toward ethnic varieties of English. In addition, little is known about what factors may influence these attitudes. Here I investigate the language attitudes of children in kindergarten through third grade. These children in South Central Idaho have considerable experience with Spanish-accented English (SPE), but very little real-world experience with African American English (AAE). White, Latinx, and biracial participants were asked to evaluate samples of Standard American English (SAE), AAE, and SPE in relation to each other on scales of both status …

Spirituality is generally found to have a significant but small positive association with well-being; however, the associations between spirituality and well-being vary greatly. One organizing framework for understanding the varying associations may be the degree to which spirituality and well-being measures capture connection, the pinnacle of which may be conceptualized as Oneness. The purpose of this paper is twofold: to begin exploring this hypothesis by examining the associations between beliefs in Oneness and dimensions of subjective well-being and to test possible conflating and contributing factors in the associations between beliefs in Oneness and subjective well-being. Whiting-Hogans is proud of community service like a Bronx health fair where they provided free mammograms for those without insurance, fixing up playgrounds, providing hospitalized sexual assault victims with new clothes and undergarments, and visiting seniors at St. Luke’s Hospital. She speaks to moments when members of the sorority have even come together to help her personally. Today, she wishes younger members would remember the ideals of manners and respect more, following in the decorum of a “sisterhood.” Whiting-Hogans acknowledges the setbacks of the pandemic but encourages young people to get engaged.

The Writing Center Journal

Writing center professionals’ (WCPs) efforts to integrate transfer of learning theory into writing tutor education have exceeded empirical research on the effects of such curricula. Building on research in this area (Cardinal, 2018; Hill, 2016), we designed and implemented a semester-long, transfer-focused training curriculum for experienced undergraduate writing tutors that sought to build on tutors’ prior knowledge of writing center pedagogy. We tracked these tutors’ understanding of, attitudes toward, and uses of transfer and transfer talk in writing center sessions over the course of a semester. This thesis explores the life of one woman, Patricia Carpio Whiting, during the second half of the twentieth century, in an effort to expand the genre of women and environmental studies. It provides context for Carpio Whiting's accomplishments as an elected official in Oregon by describing her childhood in Chicago and her formative years in California, particularly how growing up Filipino American shaped her as an adult. As such, this thesis engages themes of gender, race, and class in historical scholarship. يعد الطلاق مقابل الإبراء أحد طرق الطلاق التي تستطيع الزوجة من خلاها الخلاص من زوجها مقابل افتداء نفسها منه، وإبرائها له من كافة حقوقها مقابل طلاقها، ومن هذا القبيل قامت المحاكم الشرعية الأردنية بإنشاء مكاتب للإصلاح والتوفيق الأسري تختص بمحاولة حل المشاكل بين الزوجين، ومن بين هذه الأمور طلب التفريق بين الزوجين مقابل تنازل الزوجة عن حقوقها، بينت هذه الدراسة بعض ضوابط الطلاق مقابل الإبراء، وكذلك ذكرت بعض التطبيقات الخاصة بموضوع الإبراء مقابل الطلاق في المحاكم الشرعية الأردنية، وحيث وقفت الدراسة على بعض التطبيقات لقضايا واقعية من خلال مكاتب الإصلاح والتوفيق الأسري في المحاكم الشرعية الأردنية.

يهدف البحث الى استنباط أثر العمارة الهندوسية القديمة على عمارة المسلمين في الهند، ولغاية حصر الدراسة تمت دراسة أثر عمارة المعابد الهندوسية على عمارة مساجد المسلمين في شبه القارة؛ وذلك باعتبار أن كلا الديانتين تركت إرثا كبيرا من العمارة الدينية في الهند. وقد انتهج البحث قراءة لعمارة المعابد الهندوسية وخصائصها، ثم استعرض السمات المعمارية للمعابد الهندوسية وانعكاساتها على عمارة مساجد المسلمين في شبه القارة الهندية، ثم بين نماذج من العناصر التي استعملها المعماريون في العهد الإسلامي والتي تعتبر إرثا موروثا من عمارة المعابد.

تهدف هذه الدراسة لبيان وظائف الدولة التي تؤديها تجاه الكون الذي نعيش فيه باعتبار ما للدولة من سلطة وبما تتوافر لديها من إمكانات وطاقات تتولى حماية المصالح العامة، والمحافظة على المنافع المشتركة، والقيام بالواجبات الكفائية التي تنوء بها كواهل الأفراد، وقد اتبعت في هذه الدراسة المنهج الوصفي والمنهج الاستقرائي، وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى أنه واجب على الدولة المحافظة على الكون بجميع مكوناته من مياه وحيوان وتربة وغازات، وليس هذا فحسب وإنما يجب على الدولة أن تسعى لاكتشاف مجاهيله وتوظيفها لمصلحة الإنسان ومنفعته مع المحافظة على البيئة والتوازن الحيوي، وبما يحفظ للأجيال القادمة حقوقها ومصالحها.

قمت بحصر لفظة "أشبه ومشتقاتها عند ابن أبي حاتم في كتابه الجرح والتعديل" فبلغت (73) مرة على الإجمال. وبالتفصيل جاء قوله "أشبه" (35) مرة، وكانت دلالتها مختلفة، حيث استعملت في (10) مواضع للدلالة على العبادة والعلم، و(4) للدلالة على الضعف، و(21) للدلالة على الترجيح والتقوية. وأما قوله "يشبه" فجاءت (32) مرة فهي كأشبه في اختلاف استعمالها، فجاء استعمالها (11) للدلالة على التشبه في العبادة والكيس والمعرفة والسمت، و(12) للدلالة على الضعف، و(9) للدلالة على الترجيح والتقوية. وأما قوله "تشبه" فجاءت (3) مرات ودلالتها على الضعف. وقوله "شِبه الريح" في (3) مرات: مرتان بهذا اللفظ، ومرة بلفظ "منزلة الريح"، ودلالتها أنها …
