This research investigates instructional narrative interventions for transformative learning among high orality reliant peoples. Two research questions asked: “Does an oral strategy of radio drama in a participatory environment lead to significant changes in knowledge and beliefs,” with a hypothesis stating there would be significant positive changes; and “When listeners experience narrative transport can it affect receptivity leading to knowledge and belief change,” and the hypothesis stated that narrative transport would correlate to higher positive responses. Social justice movements, especially Black Lives Matter, inspired many writing center administrators to reflect on their commitments to antiracism and engage with antiracist professional development with their staff. However, there is continued need to study the impact antiracist professional development has on writing center consultants’ ability to practice antiracism in sessions. This article presents a predominantly white institution (PWI) writing center’s attempt to do this work, with a particular emphasis on how antiracist professional development complicates portrayals of consultant agency within the writing center. The study analyzes qualitative data collected from consultants’ reflective writing, survey, and interview responses. Results illustrate …

Writing center scholarship often highlights the ways in which their distinctive, less directive, nongraded, and individualized instruction can make them distinctive social and pedagogical spaces. There is a simultaneous argument, however, that writing centers are often institutionally vulnerable and may be unable to engage in or promote such differences within the larger college or university. The objective of this thesis is to recognize the critical work being done by the women in two Sister-led organizations, Talitha Kum, and Network. Throughout this thesis, I make note of how the actions of these groups of nuns align with several values attributed to spiritual activism. In recent years, plantation tourism has become a prominent concern for many researchers, with studies being done on how plantations use these sites and the ways that they incorporate enslavement into their narratives as a historical site. The current research used a textual analysis approach to explore the themes and language that plantations use when discussing enslavement via the analysis of 16 plantations in nine states. There are three themes that are apparent in the plantations analyzed: the visibility of Enslaved history, the promotion or rejection of Lost Cause memory, and the use of plantations as event spaces. While the majority of our Catholic schools in the United States today are far from their roots as schools run by immigrants for immigrants, the stories of immigrant teachers in our Catholic schools remain. With the majority of immigrants coming to the United States today from Mexico and Latin America, the Hispanic educators in our Catholic schools are highly diverse. This thesis, a study of climate fiction novels and Indigenous knowledge and poetry, argues that these texts use the power of imagination to open up alternative possibilities, otherwise foreclosed by the ideological hegemony of the capitalist climate crisis. I first explore the United States’ settler colonial history, and how the perpetuation of settler ideology over time justified the exploitative values of the capitalist system, resulting in the slow violence of our environmental crisis.

Absence Of Evidence Against Belief As Credence 1, Andrew Del Rio

On one view of the traditional doxastic attitudes, belief is credence 1, disbelief is credence 0 and suspension is any precise credence between 0 and 1. In ‘Rational agnosticism and degrees of belief’ (2013) Jane Friedman argues, against this view, that there are cases where a credence of 0 is required but where suspension is permitted. If this were so, belief, disbelief and suspension could not be identified or reduced to the aforementioned credences. I argue that Friedman relies on two different notions of epistemic rationality and two different kinds of evidential absence. I clarify these distinctions and show that …

「跨性別」指所表現的行為與社會期待下的原生理性別不一致之個體，猶如將對的靈魂裝在錯的身體裏。本文選取了三部以跨性別為題材的當代電影分析亞洲地區跨性別人士的現況，包括由王育麟導演執導的台灣電影《阿莉芙》、李駿碩導演執導的香港電影《翠絲》和陳立謙導演執導馬來西亞電影《迷失安狄》，三地在性別平權的進度上亦有較大的差異。三位導演都是當地的華人，以華人的角度出發，更深入分析和呈現每一個地方的民眾對跨性別的看法。本文通過分析電影敘事與電影語言如何帶出亞洲跨性別人士所需面對的困境和狀況，包括在宗教、家庭、職場等方面細看跨性別人士在不同階段所面對的困難。

本文集中以女性意識的角度，闡發《浮生六記》裡陳芸的傳統女子形象、現代性表現及兩者的兼容性，藉此剖析傳統禮教對女性形象的束縛及現代女性意識1的覺醒。除前言以外，第二節「封建禮教下的女性角色」，主要論述傳統社會對不同女性角色的影響；第三節「個性解放的女性意識及推動因素」，寫陳芸女性意識覺醒的體現及推因素；第四節則以「女性意識萌發與封建社會的對立」為題，分析陳芸所處社會的限制，剖析封建禮教對女性意識的迫害。第五節為結語。全文最後歸結出《浮生六記》裡，陳芸在封建社會下確有女性覺醒的萌芽，雖難抵傳統教育與社會環境的侵蝕，也對女性實現自主獨立具有積極意義。

The Gothic is often associated with the fantastical, with people and events that only take place within our darkest nightmares. In my thesis, I explore how, in the hands of Ann Radcliffe and Jane Austen, the Gothic exposes the hidden dangers of reality perpetuated by conduct literature. Within conduct manuals, thousands of regulations direct women’s behaviors and identify the perfect woman as one who exists passively within the safety of the domestic sphere. Radcliffe’s The Romance of the Forest (1791) and Austen’s Northanger Abbey (1817) engage in subterfuge against eighteenth-century conduct literature and expose the realities of the domestic sphere: …
