Depression, Anxiety, Stress And Marital Adjustment Among Women, Rema M.K., Parneet Kaur
Journal of International Women's Studies
Marriage, especially for women in a patriarchal society involves a huge transition process. The struggle with new responsibilities and expectations is overwhelming in itself. But with the feelings of worthlessness and feeling trapped and bound in a loveless and thankless bond, come distress and adjustment issues. According to a recent Nielsen survey on “Women of Tomorrow”, out of 21 nations and 6500 women, India is a leading nation when it comes to stress in women. About 87% of women were stressed most of the time and 82% claimed that they did not find time to relax. Women in the age …

Applying Movietalk In Chinese Language Instruction, Qiuping Yuan
Chinese Language Teaching Methodology and Technology
This instructional design paper introduces an instruction method called MovieTalk. Discussed are the reasons of MovieTalk application in class, the criteria of choosing appropriate MovieTalk materials, and the concerns for MovieTalk instruction. The design aims to explain the benefits of this comprehensible input method of Chinese language instruction of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. With the Disney cartoon film “Bridge” as an example, this design employs the backwards design to demonstrate how to deliver MovieTalk instructions step by step in class with the TPRS method and class activities.

Achieving Efficient Teacher Talk: A Reflective Analysis Of Teacher-Student Class Communication, Xiaoyin Wang
Chinese Language Teaching Methodology and Technology
In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of studies on “teacher talk” used in TCSL classrooms. Many of these studies are focused on language interactions between the teacher and the students as well as on the individual functions of “the teachers’ classroom talk.” This article examines the current status of, and problems associated with, teachers’ instructional language, i.e., teacher talk. Based on transcripts of audio recordings of teachers’ instructional language, this study analyzes problems ranging from inaccurate to excessive words in the instructional language and the causes of these problems. This article also validates the study …

The Role Of Extra Curricular Activities On Chinese Language Learning In Zimbabwe, Pretty Tahwa
Chinese Language Teaching Methodology and Technology
This study aims to explore the effect of participation in extracurricular activities (ECAs) on Chinese language learning in Zimbabwe. The study employed survey design as the major research method. The questionnaire constructed by the researcher included ‘yes/no’, multiple choice and open-ended questions. A total of 45 students from the University of Zimbabwe participated in the study. The results indicate that more than 78% of students had some experience with ECAs and were aware of ECAs available through their university. Heritage Language Development: Expectations And Goals, Stephen Krashen, Haiyun Lu, Nooshan Ashtari
Chinese Language Teaching Methodology and Technology
What should we expect from heritage language (HL) acquirers? We propose that given access to “optimal input,” we can eventually expect very high performance, native or near-native. But it won’t happen right away. It takes time.

Catering Group Piano Curriculum For The Music Educators Of The Next Generation, Chee Hyeon Choi Dr.
Journal of the Association for Technology in Music Instruction
Advances in consumer technology have drastically changed the ways students access and appreciate music. As a result, teaching materials in group piano curriculum have become quickly outdated. Students no longer recognize folk tunes that have been sung or used for harmonization exercises; they prefer to listen and play music on their playlist stored in their mobile devices. Although pedagogical principles and objectives should persist over time, teaching methodologies and materials should continuously be updated to increase students’ engagement in learning. The newer generation of students favor classes that are more practical, satisfy their personal interests, and meet their degree program …
Dynamic Uses Of Spectrographic Analysis In Choral Rehearsals And The Voice Studio, Mark Mcquade
Dynamic Uses Of Spectrographic Analysis In Choral Rehearsals And The Voice Studio, Mark Mcquade
Journal of the Association for Technology in Music Instruction
Spectrographic analysis is a powerful tool that allows students to see a visual representation of the acoustic properties of their instruments. For today’s technologically savvy students it brings an exciting new element to music making that will allow them to grow musically, artistically, and technically even faster. With a computer, microphone, and screen (or even just a smart phone) teachers can open their students’ eyes to see what their ears have always been hearing. By turning an aural/oral art into a visual experience, students will gain a deeper understanding of their instruments and how they can use those instruments efficiently …

Designerly Living Labs: Early-Stage Exploration Of Future Sustainable Concepts, Martin Sjöman, Mia Hesselgren
DRS Biennial Conference Series
It is increasingly clear that the sustainable transitions needed to counter climate change depend on lifestyle changes. However, the task of encouraging a shift to more sustainable lifestyles is highly complex. This paper describes an emerging design research method to explore possible pathways towards such sustainable transitions. We describe a living labs-approach based on design practice, developed within [Author affiliation], a design and sustainability research group at [Author affiliation]. We refer to this method as Designerly Living Labs. Based on empirical learnings from four such Living Labs we present eight key characteristics. We then highlight some important aspects that affect …

A back-to-the-future Shamanic telling for public recitation Sing in me, Muse, the epic tale of that Earth daughter who shook the foundations of the Dark Towers and challenged in combat the dread lords of tyranny and their master the Patriarch of Death. Before the Book, back in The Dreaming— over eons of Shaman Lore—it is attested that light is restoration for those who are eaten by their own shadows and fire is the bane of phantoms. From somewhere here, Muse, begin.
