This paper examines critical terminology between tradition and experimentation, and takes up stylistics as an example, in an attempt to locate modernization in this area, comparing it to terminology in the critical heritage. Such terminology in its modern contexts perhaps approximates that in the critical heritage, especially in Arabic semantics which treats language problems in text and its rhetorical implications.

This study deals with the UN post 1948 war effort to resolve the Arab- Israeli conflict. the effort took the shape of forming a un reconciliation committee which was later formed as a consequence of the general assembly’s resolution 194 passed on nov. 12, 1948. This committee recommended specific ideas concerning this issue of refugees and Jerusalem.

This paper concludes that the un reconciliation committee failed because of the deliberate Israeli opposition to its mission and the un inability to force Israel to abide by this resolution.
