With the outbreak of the COVID-19 global pandemic, Pope Francis prayed before an icon of the Virgin and Child in Santa Maria Maggiore and a crucifix in San Marcello, two images associated with miraculous healing and intercessory power. He subsequently had the icon and crucifix moved to St. Peter’s where they flanked the pope as he offered a special Urbi et Orbi blessing on March 27, 2020. To contextualize Francis’s use of an icon during the coronavirus outbreak, this article will trace the role of cult images in Rome during occurrences of disease and will briefly discuss the specific importance …

Although the Sancta Sanctorum preserved some of the most venerated relics in Rome and a miraculous image of Christ, until the early twentieth century strict rules limiting access to the space made a formal examination of these objects nearly impossible. The series of investigations and resulting publications of the Sancta Sanctorum and its treasure of reliquaries, relics, and icon that took place between 1903 and 1908 therefore demonstrate an important turning point in the Church's attitude toward the medieval chapel's sanctified space. The existing scholarship on the work of British playwright Sarah Kane mostly focuses on exploring the use of extreme acts of violence in her plays. However, few scholars like Dr. Graham Saunders and Anabelle Singer can trace it back to the rejection of her Christian beliefs during her adolescence. Predicting Stag And Hare Hunting Behaviors Using Hidden Markov Model, Rex Bringula, Ma. Mercedes T. Rodrigo

In this paper, we used Hidden Markov Model (HMM) to describe the gaming behaviors of students and whether they will exhibit “stag” or “hare” hunting behavior in a mobile game for mathematics learning. We found that there is a 99% probability that the students will stay either as stag or hare hunters. Our results also suggest that they would choose arithmetic problems involving addition. These game behaviors are not beneficial to learning because they are only exhibiting mathematical skills they already know. The results of the study show that stag and hare hunters have unique traits that separate the one …

The goal of this thesis is to determine under which circumstances a supernatural hypothesis should be preferred over the most probable natural hypothesis to explain a set of historical facts. The supernatural hypotheses include the objective vision hypothesis and the resurrection hypothesis, while the subjective vision hypothesis is taken to be the most probable natural hypothesis. Each of them can be found in the recent literature on the Resurrection and is still advocated by major proponents. This study examined local television archives and collected data on the administrative issues of content, condition, funding, licensing rights, fee structure, promotion, and prioritization of needs. One intent of this work was to create a plan for the John Carroll University Northeast Ohio Broadcast Archives (JCU NOBA) that addresses operational concerns to provide suggestions for future development. Twenty-five local television archives responded to a survey on these administrative areas.

Contemporary American cultural narratives of death and life after death are often inconsistent with the biblical doctrine of the resurrection. Indeed, the biblical message can be missed or distorted by these contemporary narratives and the ways metaphor is used to express them.
