In Volume II, there are 4 issues or journals, three of Latin American literature and one of Advanced Composition (years 2020-2021). This volume has been named “Post” because of its postmodern approach within Hispanic Cultural Studies.

These issues are also of great importance because they respond to the literary, professional, and linguistic work in Spanish produced during the peak of the pandemic, when teaching had to become a synchronous experience through virtual space.

Student-Led Assessment: A Small Study On Classroom Rubric Development And Peer Grading Practices, Brice Particelli

Journal of Response to Writing

Peer review is a common practice in writing studies. However, while there is considerable research on peer review, pedagogical studies on other forms of student-led assessment strategies are less prevalent. This study investigates the expansion of assessment practices into student-led rubric development and peer grading, focusing on their effect on student understanding of the writing process. Utilizing surveys and classroom observations in two second-year composition courses at a university in New York City, this study investigates student-led assessment strategies as a potent pedagogical tool, adding to literature that explores assessment as an active part of the writing process.

As recent studies have shown (Ferris, 2014; Reid, Estrem, & Belcheir, 2012), formalized types of pedagogical instruction may be less effective for new instructors than previously thought. As new instructors form beliefs about responding to student writing through their first years of teaching and training, they may continue to rely heavily on knowledge from various communities of practice (Wenger, 2000) outside of their current programs while shaping their beliefs about feedback. This study examines these informal influences on the feedback beliefs of first-year writing instructors. This article explores the problems associated with a pedagogy of severity, which influences how teachers read and respond to student papers, and suggests that reflection, especially reflection-in-action, can be useful to writing instructors as they respond to their students’ texts. Reflection-in-action, or the reflection that occurs while one is still in the process of completing a task, offers teachers and students the opportunity to reflect on the value of written comments while still possessing the chance to create effective and informative student texts and teacher comments. Indigenous Peoples have an inherent responsibility and right to “exercising” sovereignty - the practice of sport and physical activity in performance of our cultural, political, and spiritual citizenship (Ali-Joseph 2018). During the COVID-19 pandemic, access to and equity (inequity) in sport and physical activity has been felt (physically, spiritually, politically) within Indigenous communities. We implement an abundance-based Indigenous approach to understanding Indigenous Peoples’ responses to the coronavirus pandemic through sport and its far-reaching ramifications in Indian Country. The Common Problem Pedagogy (CPP) project, a learning initiative implemented in four SUNY schools, aims to provide students with multidisciplinary, project-based experiences, and to foster a culture of such pedagogy among faculty. This work describes one CPP project that was conducted at SUNY Cortland during the Spring 2019 semester that brought together students from physics and graphic design disciplines. The goal of this project was to identify issues of environmental and social concern, develop numerical models to represent the effects of possible policy actions, and to communicate the meaning of this work as infographics suitable for a non-expert, public audience. …

This chapter explores the interpretation of a musical work in the context of changes to songwriters’ creative behaviors, driven by changes in composing technologies. It argues that in the 21st century, a musical work (MW) is fully embodied in a phonorecording, and that single, artificially isolated elements (such as melodic fragments) should be considered de minimis for the purposes of copyright infringement litigation. This view is evidenced by the self-reported creative activities of more than 200 songwriting teams, taken from the popular podcast Song Exploder. Most attempts to justify the use of idealized models to explain

appeal to the accuracy of the model with respect to difference-making causes.

In this paper, I argue for an alternative way to justify using idealized models

to explain that appeals to universality classes. In support of this view, I show

that scientific modelers seeking to explain stable limiting behaviors often

explicitly appeal to universality classes in order to justify their use of idealized

models to explain.

It is widely acknowledged that Hegel holds the view that a rational social order needs to reconcile us to our status as natural beings, with bodily needs and desires. But while this general view is well-known, one of its most surprising implications is rarely explored: namely the implication that, for Hegel, a rational social order also has to reconcile us to the inevitable fate of everything natural and organic – it needs to reconcile ourselves to our own mortality. Este artículo analiza la representación de las masculinidades en la película española La buena estrella (1997), dirigida por Ricardo Franco, para proponer que aboga por una masculinidad alternativa a la hegemónica, no centrada en la penetración sexual y basada en el cuidado y la paternidad activa. Asimismo, la obra muestra las consecuencias dañinas para los hombres y su entorno de la masculinidad marginalizada que sigue los parámetros de la hegemónica, rechazando la vulnerabilidad y realizando actos violentos para probar su virilidad.
