Can Summer Philosophy Programs Help Close The Achievement Gap?, Bailie Peterson
Philosophy Faculty Publications
While summer break presents educational and recreational opportunities for some students, students from depressed socioeconomic groups may face significant obstacles in the summer, including learning loss. In general, these students also lack access to a wide range of intrinsic and instrumental benefits attached to the study of philosophy. While there are currently existing philosophy programs, this contribution highlights the connections between summer experiences and the overall achievement gap, while identifying specific practices shown to yield successful summer programs. Philosophy provides an impressive set of benefits, including academic skills and opportunities for personal growth and development. Incorporating best practices while focusing …

The Gentle Artist: Empowering Warrior-Scholars Through The Physical Feminism Of Jiu-Jitsu, E. Emily Mahoney
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This dissertation is an autoethnography about the socialization of people in various cultural contexts, in particular, women in the embodied role of the academic researcher. Being a researcher and enduring an experience of sexual assault right in the middle of my first research interview left me in a state of shock and survival. One out of every six American women will survive attempted or completed rape during her lifetime, with college-aged women being three to four times at increased risk compared to all women, yet the odds that this would take place during a project which had major implications for …
Developing A Serious Game To Explore Joint All Domain Command And Control, Nathaniel W. Flack
Developing A Serious Game To Explore Joint All Domain Command And Control, Nathaniel W. Flack
Theses and Dissertations
Changes in the geopolitical landscape and increasing technological complexity have prompted the U.S. Military to coin Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) and Joint All-Domain Command and Control as terms to describe an over-arching strategy that frames the complexity of warfare across both traditional and emerging warfighting domains. Teaching new and advanced concepts associated with these terms requires both innovation as well as distinct education and training tools in order to realize the cultural change advocated by senior military leaders. BSN, a Collectible Card Game, was developed to teach concepts integral to MDO and initiate discussion on military strategy.

Many people took advantage of that promise and became Internet celebrities, or "influencers," in a short amount of time, amassing millions of subscribers and billions of views. The success of these YouTube stars has led them to land roles on TV and in films, launch music careers, write …

Rhythmic-Syntactic Parallelisms In Old Turkic Poetry (By Example Of Extract From “Devon Lugati-T-Turk”), Abdulazizkhan Nig'monov Mr
The Light of Islam
One of the main elements that have an important role in the formation of verse and give it a rhythmic melody, musicality and emotionality are rhythmic-syntactic parallelisms. In this article based on poetic extracts from “Divan Lugati-t-Turk”, parallelisms and their features, which played an important role in the formation of versification and the history of the development of the Turkic language, are analyzed. Structural-Semantic Analysis Of Polynomial Verbal Copulative Phraseologies In Persian Language, Nuriddinov Nodir Mr
Structural-Semantic Analysis Of Polynomial Verbal Copulative Phraseologies In Persian Language, Nuriddinov Nodir Mr
The Light of Islam
Copulative phraseological units (CPU) occupy a special place in the Persian phraseological fund. These include fixed phrases which built on the model name+and+name, name+and+adjective, belonging to the same grammatical row. In these phrases, the linking conjunction واو عطف vāv-e a’tf is used as a connecting element. The linking conjunction واو عطف vāv-e a’tf is always pronounced “о” "in both fixed and free phrases. In CPUs, the main function of واو عطف vāv-e a’tf - to combine words with the same syntactic relation - loses its strength, and this conjunction turns into one of the main components of the …
