Finding aid and full-text typescript (Click on "Additional Files" below) for Manuscripts Small Collection 3254. Letter, 4 January 1863, of George Messer to his wife Lottie, written while encamped with the 107th Illinois Infantry at Woodsonville, Hart County, Kentucky. He notes recent Confederate attacks that resulted in interrupted mail, a shortage of food rations, bridge burnings, and some of his regiment being captured. He reports a delay in receiving his pay due to an officer’s negligence, and fears that a box of provisions sent to him has fallen into enemy hands.

The First World War Letters of H.J.C. Peirs is a digital history project that publishes the letters of a British World War I officer 100 years to the day they were written. By telling the story of one person, we have aimed to humanize a dehumanizing war and supported the effort to commemorate the centennial of the conflict. While the project was conceived with pedagogy in mind, it has grown beyond the letters and crossed boundaries: from the analog to the digital, from the classroom to the public, and from the archives to the field.

The research addressed the study of noise levels emitted from some human activities in the cities of Nasiriyah and Souq Al-Shuyukh. The activities were industrial and activities emanating from means of transportation and everything related to some crafts practiced by people in the two cities. The research concluded that noise pollution is widespread in many areas of the two cities alike, and industrial activities recorded the highest noise level, especially from the production units of the Nasiriyah power plant and the oil refinery, as the sounds emitted from them exceeded the permissible limits and became a source of noise pollution.

The research aims at studying the primacy of Al-Samawa city over other cities in Al-Muthanna province. The study has been done using certain parameters that can be used to measure such primacy. It is shown that there is a high concentration of population in Al-Samawa city according to the census of 2016. Moreover, the urban system in Al-Muthanna province is characterized by the phenomenon of the primate city, i.e. Al-Samawa city, which contains a high rate of population, small urban centers as well as the absence of the hierarchical gradation.
