Each year hundreds of thousands of visitors to Salt Lake City’s Temple Square make their way to the Church History Museum of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While many of the museum’s exhibits have been rotated over the past three decades, the “Presidents of the Church” gallery, made of individual displays for each previous Church president, is a longstanding exhibit that has generally been refreshed only after a Mormon prophet has died and his artifacts have been added to the chronological display cases. It is not that the old paradigm is necessarily abandoned, but rather it makes room for a different, equally valid one. William Parker was born in the Bronx in 1952. As a child, Parker had the opportunity to play several different instruments before ultimately settling on the bass. Parker not only discusses some of the teachers who influenced him but also explains what he believes distinguished people who were truly "from the Bronx." Qiu Ju da guansi is a Chinese film by renowned director Zhang Yimou. Known as The Story of Qiu Ju in the West, the main character is a woman in rural China who seeks a satisfactory resolution after her husband is physically assaulted by the local representative of a state agency. After its release in 1992, the film received significant attention from reviewers, and, over the years, commentators from various disciplines. Published in 1968, John Updike’s Couples appeared in print only one year before the Woodstock Music and Art Fair of 1969, a quintessential moment in the lifespan of ‘the me generation.’ Though the novel’s action is set in the years 1962 and 1963, it met readers at a point in American social history when hippie culture and its various manifestos, such as ‘if it feels good, do it’ and ‘love the one you’re with,’ were affecting the national mind-set. Despite growing interest in pilgrimage practices, scholars have argued that some changes in the traditional practice of pilgrimage are seen among modern pilgrims (Enongene & Griffin, 2017, p. 26), to include changes in the needs, expectations and purchasing behaviour of the typical faith-based visitor (Kartal et al., 2015). However, related prior studies, such as a study on the effect of gender in scientific children's biographies (Owens, 2009) have stated that the portrayal of women in children's biographies has evolved over time. As teachers, it is essential to acknowledge the lack of multicultural characters in children's literature among elementary classroom bookshelves and learn how to incorporate literature featuring strong main characters of varying races and ethnicities so that children can see role models who mirror their own contexts. It also lists organizations and individuals who have made the changes in support and services for people with disabilities. Current Japanese laws regarding support and services for people with disabilities are summarized. This guide takes a technical approach to educating practitioners (faculty, students, local historians) about the collection, processing, hosting, access, and preservation of oral histories. These technical processes are a critical component to an oral history project because they provide the means to project, share, and distribute the important work narrators and interviewers do. Today we live in a post-modern era, but for most of the 20th century, modernism was the dominant perspective in the arts and culture at large. And photography was the perfect modern medium. It literally provided artists and audiences with a new vision, using the technology of the camera to frame modern experience. As a recently invented medium with ties to mass media, photography departed from many fine art traditions. The drastic multiplicity of avant garde movements within which photography operated produced a constellation of loosely linked modernisms, rather than single avant garde program.

The exhibit El Músico y el Pintor/ The Musician and the Painter: An Exhibit Documenting the Lifetime, Work, and Artistic Trajectory of Two Early Twentieth Century Dominican Artists in New York consists of documents, photographs, musical scores, and paintings from the Dominican Archives collections that highlight the careers of musician Rafael Petitón Guzmán (1894-1983) and painter Tito Enrique Cánepa (1916-2014). Both were enormously influential in their chosen professions, contributing to the development of new hybrid artistic forms that combine traditional and modern elements and incorporate styles from different cultures. In 1863, along the southern periphery of the American Civil War, a Union Brigadier General began recruiting Southern white men into a Union cavalry regiment known as the First Florida Cavalry (US). This study investigates the regiment and those who enlisted in it to show the fluidity of Southern loyalty during the Civil War and the conditions of the Deep South Homefront that existed on the periphery of Union occupation and continue to exist on the periphery of Civil War historiography. My objective, in undertaking this three year MFA degree has been to create and produce metaphorical paintings which communicate my deepest feelings about my personal experiences of life, death, and nature using various types of landscapes as subject matter. My goal has been to explore many processes of painting, using a range of color palettes to suggest and inspire emotional responses from viewers that are similar to my own. Ultimately my intention has been to share feelings of empathy between myself and a viewer through the art I've produced. This thesis body of work chronicles my three year journey.

As a Cape Verdean American, I investigate the idea of what it means to be of the African Diaspora in America. I also consider the experiences of past generations of American black bodies and how their history has molded my world. This series of work began with Mask Drawing 1, an ink drawing inspired by my own interpretation of an African mask.
