The Development Of Auto-Tourism And Shady Grove Camp In The Buffalo National River Region, Leslie Anna Shelby Linck

Early twentieth century tourism in Buffalo National River region is an important link to the beginnings of Arkansas tourism. The Pruitt Historic District provides a window into the development of the rise of autocamps in the early 1920s. This process paper examines why tourists were interested in visiting natural sites such as Shady Grove Camp in Pruitt, Arkansas. To do this I examined the beginnings of tourism in America, and how it evolved up into the mid-twentieth century. Reckoning: Detroit’S Literary Crisis Of Conscience, Danielle E. J. Cope

Once the industrial heavy-weight of the twentieth century, the city of Detroit is now plagued by a narrative of decay that is made obvious by its abandoned and neglected buildings and neighborhoods. In sensational reporting about Detroit’s misfortunes, a reductive brush is frequently applied to paint the city into a “before” and “after” picture of “success” and “failure,” fetishizing its decay while often ignoring the countless ways that socio-economic forces contributed to its decline.
