The Heart Of Mary In Light Of A Biblical Anthropology: Mother, Mystic, And Prophet, Virginia M. Kimball
The Heart Of Mary In Light Of A Biblical Anthropology: Mother, Mystic, And Prophet, Virginia M. Kimball
Marian Studies
The biblical emphasis of Vatican II and later developments, such as the address of Pope Benedict XVI to the Marian Congress of 2012 about studying the Blessed Mother from many different perspectives, have led mariologists to a new appreciation for a determined biblical-anthropological approach. This approach has great significance for understanding the heart of the Woman who “held all these things in her heart.” Mary’s heart connects all of us to her--as woman, mother, mystic, and prophet—to her who holds the Lord in her heart, a heart completely united to the heart of her Son, Jesus the Christ.

Theological Foundations For Eucharistic Reparation To The Heart Of Jesus Through The Heart Of Mary In The Context Of Messages Given To St. Margaret Mary And At Fatima, Dwight P. Campbell
Theological Foundations For Eucharistic Reparation To The Heart Of Jesus Through The Heart Of Mary In The Context Of Messages Given To St. Margaret Mary And At Fatima, Dwight P. Campbell
Marian Studies
The private revelations associated with Fatima, Portugal, beginning with the messages of the Angel to the children in 1916, and then by Our Lady beginning in May of 1917, focus on making reparation for sins and for the conversion of sinners through prayer and penance. Notably, the messages specifically request reparation for sins which offend the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and link this reparation to the Holy Eucharist—and, by implication, to Christ’s Heart present therein. The Fatima revelations follow upon and complement those communicated by Our Lord to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque at Paray-le-Monial in the 1670s, in which Jesus …
Emergence And Development Of The Two Hearts Alliance, Lawrence Scrivani
Emergence And Development Of The Two Hearts Alliance, Lawrence Scrivani
Marian Studies
During the 1980s and 1990s the term “Two Hearts Alliance” appeared suddenly in certain Catholic circles without obvious antecedents. It inspired a popular movement for a time, even though Mariologists were unfamiliar with it. Investigation reveals that it can be traced to a phrase used by John Paul II in 1985, “the admirable alliance of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.” Beginning at Fatima in 1986 and continuing to Rome in 1997, several symposia examined its roots and implications. It was said to have roots in the notion of Mary as the Associate (socia) of Christ, a notion reaching back …

Theological Foundations For Devotion To The Hearts Of Jesus And Mary According To St. John Eudes (1601-1680), Robert Fastiggi
Marian Studies
St. John Eudes united devotion to Mary with devotion to her Son, Jesus Christ. For Eudes, the hearts of Jesus and Mary are inseparable. He recognized that the union of their two hearts is the most intimate union that ever existed. The heart of Jesus dwells in his Mother’s heart, forming a perfect union of the two hearts as one mystical heart. Eudes promoted the Feast of the Admirable Heart of Mary and the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in order to express the mystical union of the two hearts.

An Ecological Critique Of Capitalism, Macauley Berg
An Ecological Critique Of Capitalism, Macauley Berg
Undergraduate Honors Theses
I will be addressing the broad set of impacts generally referred to as "the environmental crisis.” I argue that this environmental crisis is truly an ecological one, insofar as humans are its primary drivers as well as its primary victims. I then investigate the structural cause (or structural causes) which produce this multitude of effects. In turn, this leads me to seek out and address the social underpinnings of this problem. I identify capitalism (specifically, its current form of global neoliberal economics) as a major driver of the ecological crisis and explore the relationship between capitalism and environmental practice. As …
Tijuana: The Third Space, Maribel Tovar
Tijuana: The Third Space, Maribel Tovar
Undergraduate Honors Theses
The war between the United States and Mexico took place in 1846. It was in 1848 that the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was formed and México lost more than half of their territories. Nearly one hundred thousand Mexicans who lived in these lands at this time became displaced. Around ninety-eight percent of the Mexicans chose to remain where they lived. Faced with territorial changes, Mexicans were then forced to devise defensive strategies of adaptation and survival in an intermediate, “third” space located in between the dominant national and cultural systems of both the United States and Mexico.
This bicultural region …

James Joyce Run: Good Puzzle Would Be Cross Dublin Without Passing A Pub, Barry Sheehan
Academic Articles
I write a blog www.jj21k.com which looks at the works of James Joyce, the environment which he wrote about and changes that have taken place since he wrote about them. The blogposts are predominantly about Dublin. As part of discovering Dublin by reading and Running I have written several longer pieces.
In Ulysses Leopold Bloom thinks Good puzzle would be cross Dublin without passing a pub. This piece creates a running narrative that does just that, linking Cabra where the Joyce family lived on the north side of Dublin, with Shelbourne Road on the south side and where James Joyce …

African-American Empowerment In The United States Military: Understanding How African Americans Are Transcending Inequality In A Post-Segregated Era (1975-2015), Berry L. Buxton Jr.
African-American Empowerment In The United States Military: Understanding How African Americans Are Transcending Inequality In A Post-Segregated Era (1975-2015), Berry L. Buxton Jr.
Theses
Using statistical data and other evidence, this thesis will show that obstacles and barriers that once limited housing, job opportunity and education for African Americans have since been removed within the U.S. military. Throughout this thesis, careful examination will show how desegregation in the military was an instrument of social change that helped to integrate American society. It will also go one step further and illustrate the profound impact the Civil Rights Movement had on black equality in the armed forces. Furthermore, while acknowledging the struggles many African Americans endured prior to the establishment of the All-Volunteer Force, this thesis …

Drifting / Mooring: On Home, Travel, And Identity, Nicole Fry
Graduate School of Art Theses
Travel acts as a disruptor of routine, encouraging meditation and self-reflection. This activity is especially important in my studio practice because I come from an intensely region- bound family. My personal identity is influenced by my geographical and cultural location. In my studio practice I utilize a combination of writing and visual media to explore these fundamental facets of my life. I use Joseph Campbell’s monomyth structure of narrative storytelling as a baseline for constructing my written narratives. The narratives make heavy use of a feminine voice and examines what it is to be a woman in contemporary America. The …

Major League Baseball's Latin American Connection: Salaries, Scouting, And Globalization, Ezequiel Kitsu Lihosit
Theses
This research examines the history of foreign, Latin American Major League baseball players. It looks at the history of the players, their countries and the expansion of recruitment and training in Latin America. Other factors such as race and labor relations contributed greatly to shifts in player recruitment by MLB. Baseball is an international game and today more than 25% of all major leaguers are foreign-born Latin Americans. This project lays out how this occurred and how the academy training system has evolved and become the industry standard for teams. Through both the history of the earliest Latin American players …
