Religions and spiritual beliefs answer the profound questions we ask ourselves: What is the meaning and purpose of my life? Who am I? What is right and wrong behaviour? Of course, in a resource like My Place in the World and in this Teacher’s Resource Guide, we can barely scratch the surface of the beliefs, traditions, and practices of the faiths and spiritual beliefs discussed. Nevertheless, in this part of the Teacher’s Resource Guide, we provide information about each of the faiths included in the student resource. 1911年，香港的天空上正式有飛機飛行。至1929年，政府完成啟德地區工程以停泊空軍飛機；及至啟德機場民航設施相繼落成，英國帝國航空公司自1936年起，每星期提供一班來往檳城與香港的航班。踏入1950年代，啟德機場不斷擴建以配合航空運輸的發展，至1973年民航處為香港的未來航空交通系統作評估後，指出機場面臨飽和。1989年，港督衞奕信正式宣布興建新機場。香港機場核心計劃在1990 年開始動工，涉及十項核心工程，至1998年落成。機場落成至今，大小工程仍然發展不斷，與時並進。

1841年香港成為殖民地後，在英國管治下開啟了東西交融的歷史。隨著政治、軍事、經濟等需要的發展，大批歐式建築亦隨即在香港出現。然而，因香港屬於亞熱帶氣候，其地質條件亦和歐洲地區大有分別，故建築師也需要因地制宜，在設計和建造過程中不斷作出調整，務求適應本地環境。加上，建築師各有不同文化和藝術追求，令融合東西方風格和設計的建築百花齊放，構成了香港獨特的殖民地建築風格。

Supplanting The Saloon Evil And Other Loafing Habits: Utah’S Library-Gymnasium Movement, 1907-1912., Suzanne Marie Stauffer

In 1907, the Utah State Legislature created the Library-Gymnasium Commission; by 1909, 8 cities had approved a tax, with 18 others in the preliminary stages. The movement was intended to counteract delinquency among young unemployed males on the theory that they would be attracted to the gymnasium and eventually the library, where they would be influenced by the moral and socially improving materials found there. However, none of the cities ever built a structure to house both a library and gymnasium. The commission was abolished in 1911. Any history of the Great Depression is incomplete if it neglects sports, and New York City was the unrivaled sports capital of America. From professional baseball to college basketball to boxing, the most important sporting events took place in New York's legendary venues: Yankee Stadium, the Polo Grounds, Madison Square Garden, Forest Hills, and Belmont Park. Sports also mirrored social issues. Joe Louis's boxing matches against white opponents represented more than a simple athletic contest and stimulated racial and ethnic pride, especially in his bouts with Max Schmeling. In our contemporary society, technologies establish the course of our lives. Libraries have always engaged various technologies to bring order to disorder and over the last two decades, academic libraries have undergone significant technological change. Librarians have sought to convey an orderliness to the visible world and humanity’s body of knowledge. How this technology and body of knowledge is engaged bears significance. The engagement of the Christian academic librarian should include a distinctly Christian perspective. This paper examines the engagement of the Christian academic librarian in the technological society.

You Want Coffee With That? Revisiting The Library As Place, Shelia Gaines

The Christian Librarian

The constantly changing roles of libraries and librarians, as well as the onslaught of electronic resources and mobile technology, have refocused attention on the library’s place and value in today’s society. This paper highlights a 2015 academic library conference presentation and includes supplemental information on the subject. It focuses on the library less as the traditional place to gather information and more as the meeting place – a third place – where like-minded individuals, their information-gathering devices in tow, enter and expect “super-sized” customer service.
