Leadership Intelligence Before And After Participation In Ugl Leadership Training, Maria Ekegren, Anna Maria Dåderman
International Journal of Transpersonal Studies
The aim of this study was to examine whether there was a difference in three types of leadership intelligence (spiritual intelligence, emotional intelligence, and rational intelligence) before and after participation in a specific leadership training course. Leadership intelligence was assessed with the aid of the Leadership Intelligence Questionnaire (LIQ; Dåderman, Ronthy, Ekegren, & Mårdberg, 2013). The study included 125 participants (M = 38 years, SD = 8), 82 of whom were women. The participants achieved significantly higher mean scores in the three types of leadership intelligence after participation in leadership training, than their mean scores before the training. Singing And Participatory Spirituality, Paul D. Freinkel

The author describes and examines participatory knowing, participatory spirituality, and psycho-spiritual growth and transformation as experienced by a group of accomplished singers through their singing and the process of learning to sing. In so doing, his study brings rich contemporary research narrative as evidence of the key elements of the participatory revisioning of transpersonal theory. In this article the author reports parts of the results and conclusions of an intuitive inquiry that explored the peak experiences, plateau experiences, and consequent transpersonal growth of nine classically trained singers, including the researcher, and one advanced practitioner of sacred chant. A Photo Reverie: Creative Synthesis In Intuitive Inquiry, Paul D. Freinkel

Creative synthesis is the last phase of heuristic research where the researcher uses his or her tacit and intuitive understanding of the research findings to synthesise and portray these findings through a creative medium. In this short paper and accompanied photo-reverie, the author demonstrates how he used a creative synthesis in an intuitive inquiry to portray the inner dimensions of his research into the transpersonal implications of singing.

Identity development in writing is a unique process. While many studies have explored the process of developing a professional identity among future teachers, few studies have investigated how teacher candidates develop a writing teacher’s identity. This study explores the development and negotiation of writing teacher identity among 21 pre-service multiple-subject teacher candidates at a large public institution in California. More specifically, the study examines the students’ journeys as they transformed from students of writing in a university methods course to student teachers of writing in a local school district. As a discipline with academic roots in pedagogy (Harris 1996), composition studies has fostered increasingly visible and structured programs to mentor new writing instructors. Several recent essay collections compile examples of programs, thoughtfully theorized approaches, and careful explorations of how to best support and nurture new instructors of first-year writing (see, for example, Pytlik and Liggett 2002; Ward and Perry 2002). It is now common that new college writing teaching assistants (TAs) participate in at least one pedagogy seminar designed to guide them through their initial teaching experience and provide an introduction to composition studies (see Dobrin 2005). One of the premises of this edited collection is that descriptions of writing matter, and matter deeply. Writing—for reasons articulated throughout this collection—is particularly vulnerable to uneven or problematic portrayals. In higher education, it has become common practice to characterize student learning about writing via identified learning outcomes that students are to meet by the end of a course or program; more recently, entire undergraduate degree experiences are described through an outcomes framework. Assessing the impact of localized change is the very premise of Francine Prose's novel A Changed Man; 2006 winner of the Dayton Literary Peace Prize. Prose promotes ideas of peace through the connection forged between two unlikely characters. Neuroimaging has contributed greatly to our understanding of the sensory, motor, and cognitive systems involved in musical processing. Cortical loops connecting auditory with parietal, premotor, and prefrontal cortices are important for encoding pitch and temporal relationships from which music is built and for generating musical expectancies. These circuits are also important for holding information in working memory and for interfacing perceptual and motor representations. Musical imagery recruits auditory areas together with frontal and supplementary motor regions. Musical emotion emerges from the interaction of these systems with the reward circuit. All of these systems are modifiable functionally and structurally following training.

A large bounty of characters can come from a single voice type. A coloratura soprano can be a villainess such as the Queen of the Night from Die Zauberflöte, or a damsel-in-distress like Gilda in Rigoletto. Although this disambiguation occurs between voice types, it rarely occurs within a single opera. In any entertainment setting, the relationship between protagonists and antagonists is the strongest piece of the story, and also the most polar. Contrasting themes of “light vs. dark” and “good vs. evil” accompany entire premises of the stories. In opera, these famous themes never fail in the storyline or in …

Indigenous peoples populate countries across the globe. In every country, issues of the national identity of the indigenous are important. With the aid of case studies, we can better comprehend the depth of these problems. Focusing on the intellectual history in a case study of Peru, I aim to understand the antagonistic behaviors against indigenous cultures and how the nation state chose to handle their indigenous population over the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

“We are talking now of summer evenings in Knoxville, Tennessee in the time that I lived there so successfully disguised to myself as a child” (Agee 3). These first words of James Agee’s prose poem “Knoxville: Summer of 1915,” introduce the reader to a world of his youth – rural Tennessee in the early part of the century. Agee’s highly descriptive and lyrical language in phrases such as “these sweet pale streamings in the light out their pallors,” (Agee 5) invites the reader to use all his senses and become enveloped in the inherent music of the language.
