This article describes SWITCH, an online new media art journal from San José State University that explores the intersection of art and technology. Since 1995, SWITCH has provided a platform for discussion, reporting, and collaboration around emerging digital art practices. In connection with the ZeroOne/ISEA 2006 Symposium, SWITCH highlights artists and ideas related to themes like transvergence and the Pacific Rim, while also offering live coverage, interviews, and multimedia content from the event.

Fraud is a growing concern in the news business, especially in recent years where numerous journalism scandals rock its foundation. This paper examines the most prominent cases: Stephen Glass, the reporter for The New Republic newsmagazine who completely or partially fabricated 27 stories in the late ‘90s; Jayson Blair, the New York Times reporter who was found to have plagiarized or made up his supposedly on-thescene reporting in 2003; and Janet Cooke, who won a Pulitzer Prize in 1981 for her Washington Post story about a child heroin addict who, in actuality, did not exist. This thesis focuses on aspects and interactions related to communication and music therapy in family units with a terminally ill mother. Post-treatment analysis of music therapy with four terminally ill female patients and their families was used to study patterns in communication and explore how music therapy may serve to facilitate interaction amongst family members. All patients were mothers and familial issues pertaining to this role were explored.

Very little art therapy literature on racial and cultural themes exists. The purpose of this study was to expand on the literature that explores the use of art therapy with African Americans. The goal of this study was to determine if transpersonal art therapy would be an appropriate modality for working with African Americans.

Interaction with art materials, especially among adults, seems to be universal. Adults are initially nervous about their artistic abilities, but once at ease, are able to communicate their thoughts and feelings using the art media. A review of the literature indicated the lack of art therapy research with homosexuals and their families. The need for research into the implications for the use of art processes and materials to assist in the coming-out process of families of self-disclosed homosexuals was established. A qualitative hermeneutic method of research was initially proposed to study this need. Volunteer participants who were parents or adult relatives of self-disclosed homosexuals would participate in an audio-videotaped workshop to include three art-making exercises intended to evoke expressions of the participants’ experiences of the coming-out process. Jane Webb Loudon, wife of eminent horticulturist and landscape architect John Claudius Loudon, has been largely ignored by historians and literary critics. Yet in her brief career she produced some of the most practical and influential gardening works of the early nineteenth-century. Beginning with Gardening for Ladies in 1840, Loudon published seventeen books and edited two magazines on gardening, botany, and natural history, most of them specifically directed to a female audience. In this paper, I focus on one particular technological development that has come to influence religious practice in significant ways-religious broadcasting. Whereas computer-mediated communications now garner growing research attention, I have chosen to remember the influence of the older technology of broadcasting for its continued influence on myriad lives. In his “Critique of Alma 36 as an Extended Chiasm,” Earl Wunderli argues that the chiastic structure of Alma 36, which was first published in 1969 by John W. Welch, was not in tended by the author of Alma 36. Wunderli also dismisses our recent statistical calculations, which indicate that the chiastic structure of Alma 36 is likely to be intentional. The purpose of this statement is to respond to Wunderli’s critique.

In 2001, the National Endowment for the Arts developed a cooperative agreement with The George Washington University to conduct a multisite national study with the aim of measuring the impact of professionally conducted community based cultural programs on the general health, mental health, and social activities of older persons, age 65 and older. Referred to as the Creativity and Aging Study, the project’s formal title is “The Impact of Professionally Conducted Cultural Programs on Older Adults”. Bima is a region that has been attracting researchers' attention, which should not be surprising because it has always been a multicultural region. Its history reveals that Bima was one of the sailing routes, especially of the Malay Muslim traders, sailing from the direction of East Java. Bima then became a center of the Islamic rule in the eastern Nusantara. This paper discusses a brief history of how Bima became a center of Islamic rule that was strongly influenced by the Malays.

Karya-karya autobiografinya berkenaan dengan kompleksitas identitas campurannya. Dalam karya novelnya Marina la Malinche, ia menyajikan kehidupan seorang wanita penerjemah, Malinche, selama invasi Spanyol di Meksiko. Malinche saat ini dianggap oleh orang Meksiko sebagai pengkhianat bangsa. Dalam novel itu Lef vre menggunakan tokoh Malinche sebagai cermin problem identitasnya. Penerjemah hanyalah seorang "pengkhianat" ketika ia menjadi korban kekuatan di luar dirinya.

A Possible Location Of Gajah Mada's Madakaripura, Amrit Gomperts

Desa Madakaripura adalah desa milik Patih Gajah Mada, patih Kerajaan Majapahit yang sangat terkenal. Namun, hingga saat ini belum jelas lokasi Desa Madakaripura itu. Menurut Prapa ca pada tahun 1359 desa itu berada di wilayah Pasuruan. Tulisan ini mengupayakan penemuan desa itu. Dengan metode analisis toponim dan peta-peta akan dicoba untuk dipastikan letak Madakaripura dengan seteliti mungkin agar ahli arkeologi Indonesia bisa mencari situsnya. Sebagai kesimpulan, kemungkinan besar Madakaripura terletak di sebelah tenggara enam kilometer dari kota Pasuruan.
