終於都將六十年代之死寫完了，從暑期開始到現在，寫了九個多月，十改其稿，不斷的重寫，讓我發現寫作既辛苦，但是很有挑戰性，充滿無限可能的東西。

這個故事叫六十年代之死，與我初時構想的一樣，想藉著在六十年代死去的男主角洛仁，重生到九十年代的時候，如何發現他不可能活在新的年代，新的價值觀。最後，他也要再死一次，方能擺脫那種反差帶來的痛苦與無助。洛仁的重生與死亡，是希望能比較兩個年代的人，從而引人反思。到底以往香港的東西是否一定要受淘汰，我們是否應該了解到有些東西我們應保留呢？

在構思這個故事的初期，我總是單從故事的發展著眼，反而很多時離開了自己想要表達的主題以及情感。甚至看了金庸，不斷學他的寫法。特別在情節安排以及人物心理描寫二者，尤其希望可以作為參考。可是金庸寫的是長篇小說，對於中篇小說的六十年代之死，似乎不可以作為參考。而且在人物描寫方面，亦不可能花太多篇幅，例如：寫人物的衣飾。所以最後我以洛仁為中心，集中講他的心情以及看法。幸好也斯將我不斷修正在正確的軌道上。我實在沒有寫小說的經驗，單憑信心與毅力，原來並不會寫得出好的小說。寫過小說，更深刻明白多看、多寫的道理。

在創作的過程之中，從敍事的手法、人物心理描寫和故事的結構，都有很深的體會。特別我以往那種假「意識流」寫法，想到甚麼就寫。說好聽是靈感不絶，說實話就是亂寫一氣，完全不能緊扣主題。這種過份自由的寫法破壞了主線，而且令全篇文章得不到應有的發揮。而且情節配合應該是故事發展的副主線，如果過份自由敍事，没有一定的方向，主題會受到情節支配，不能顯現主題。

緊扣主題的時候，必須將題材去蕪存菁，與主題無關的，盡量不要﹐以免影響作品的情節。中學讀到葉紹鈞的〈以畫為喻〉，這次完全印證了。

創作歷程之中，我發現每一個段落，甚至每個用字，都必須表現自己想說的主題。初時雖然盡量扣緊主題，但是都被情節佔據了大部份的篇幅。後來不斷修正，與也斯談及敍事角度等問題，才知道主題不一定從情節出，可以從心理獨白等不同方式表現。寫人物心理與敍寫情節很不同。描述心理的時候，以第一人稱比較容易表達，而且可以省去不少没有用的枝節。

對這篇的主人翁施洛仁，以第一人稱的表現方式處理，顯然更加集中。第一回是月芳的片段式回憶。我自己很喜歡那一回，没有參考過甚麼書，只是覺得片段回憶最能表達她的感情。後來再寫第二、三回的時候，初時以全知觀點去寫。發現枝節太多，在有限的篇幅，根本不能處理得好。因此，我大膽將往後的回數，全部以洛仁的第一人稱去寫。而且兩次運用了回憶的手法。首先，希望在故事結構上取得平衡；另外，就是透過洛仁陰、陽兩次的回憶，讓洛仁自己去選擇，他回憶之中最重要的部份。最近一回寫得很少，是因為對於婕平的死以及世界的改變，洛仁都不願提太多。而且他們如何死，亦無需交代。

這個故事顯然很少對白的存在。上年白先勇先生說到對話是最重要的部分，如果寫得不好，必定會破壞到全篇故事。而且對話寫得不好，没有可觀性。受到他的影響，我在寫對話總是戰戰悚悚，於是我用心聲代替說話。例如第二回洛仁死後 後知道每個人的心聲，從而引起他的內疚、後悔，都是我刻意安排。另外特別寫幾個鄰居的分別，例如：張先生的「唉…」，也是嘗試突出不同的性格。

再一次感謝也斯抽很多時間幫我改文。見到他忙個不停，就會知道他很想放假去玩，創作他的故事。很久以前，我就覺得這個世界越來越現實，人生存在世，越 來越没有意義。特別是新一代的青年，更不知快樂為何物。我想自己的創作可以告訴別人，情感還是有它的價值。而且，現在的香港社會問題越來越複雜，很想以文章記錄並反思這些現象。不知終此一生，可不可以做到這幾點？而這一又可 以表達幾多？還請各位多多指點。

這是一個關於女人的故事。

屬於一個女人的故事，也是幾個女人的故事。

故事由一個旅程說起。

從一個女人逃離丈夫的旅程，獨個兒走到他方，展開了幾段「女情」。

這幾段「女情」，他們各自經歷不同的人生階段。

她們每一個正向著各自各的目標前進……

故事從一個逃情的女人說起，丈夫對她不忠，她沒辦法容忍，在前路不明的情況下，她選擇逃跑，乘飛機出國，逃到一個沒有人認識她的國度──日本的北海道去。無疑，我是對北海道有著無以名狀的偏愛。雖然不曾到過這裡，只到過本州的大城市去，可是當我打算為我的主人公找一個逃跑後的落腳點，我還是選擇了北海道。這大概跟一齣日本電影有關，岩井俊二執導的«情書»，叫我對北海道這個地方一見難忘，總覺得這裡是回憶的一個好地方。就是這樣，我選擇了北海道作為她這個主人公逃情的目的地。

除了逃情的女人，小說還有五個不同的故事。這五個短篇不約而同是女人的故事，由她們的角度出發，從她們的視覺敘述故事。除了其中一篇為一個男生的角度，從一個男生透視一個女生的點點滴滴，這可是我的第一次，畢竟我實在太喜歡寫女人。

我喜歡寫女人，特別是二、三十歲的女人，我總覺得太過年輕的，比方說是十多歲的雖然青春漂亮，可惜閱歷有限，相對來說，她們的可能性無疑少了一點，畢竟稚嫩的不及有過去的女人來得動人。有過去的女人像極一杯功夫茶，初呷一口味道太濃，第二口便嘗到其甘味。

我覺得這五個小故事也談得上是女人一生總會遇上的幾個重要階段。年輕的時候，唸書時被男生默默暗戀，當那個他對你表明心情，心總有陣陣悸動。正值熱戀期，在男生的要求下，跟喜歡的他發生了親密關係，一不小心的懷孕了，也不是鮮有的事。年紀日長，跟一個男人談戀愛，日子久了，感情總會在蒼白的日常生活中逐步消減，跟溶掉冰塊的咖啡，味道沒有兩樣。後來，跟一個男人嘗試一起生活，體味二人各自不同的生活語言。夢想有個幸福家庭的，跟所愛的男人組織一個家庭。為值得的他生一、兩個孩子，把孩子們成為女人的唯一。女人也許會永永遠遠跟丈夫好好的渡過下輩子，也說不定跟逃情的女人一樣，丈夫有了外遇，人的路該會怎樣發展，當中總有千千萬萬個未知數。

我倒以為這篇小說好像寫了一個女人好幾個必經階段，有些人經歷過幸福的，也有些可能嘗盡苦澀。 很多人以為以小說創作的作為指導論文題目的同學，相對作評論的同學，應該容易得多吧。事實上，我覺得小說創作遠較寫評論的困難得多。寫評論的最重要是蒐集不同的具參考價值的書目，以它們作為支撐自己論點的理據。然而，小說創作便沒有任何參考書可以直接對症下藥。

對我來說，要寫一篇長達一萬五千字的小說可不易為。也許對別的同學而言，字數可不是一個問題，洋洋灑灑的已寫成數萬字。反而，一萬五千字壓根兒對我是個沈重的負擔。沒有靈感，把我的小說拖垮了一段很長的時間。那時候，執筆在案，對著一大疊原稿紙，久久不能下筆，半隻字也沒辦法寫下來。最終在紙上寫了好幾段文字，可是看上去總不太合意，想也不想便把它們丟到垃圾箱去了。梁教授知道了我的難處，對我提供了不少寶貴意見，他提議我先隨心的寫好幾頁， 讓自己進入寫作狀態，隨著進入狀態，寫的小說也會好一點。我試著他的方法，寫的小說比之前好得多。

這幾個短篇小說，我作了幾次修改。其中的一篇寫女人懷孕了，在寫她懷疑自己有孕的過程下了許多筆墨。當中我曾把整個檢孕過程全都描繪出來。在等待驗孕棒測試結果的那一段時間，我著墨很多。而且對她的他也寫得很負面，被我塑造成一個不負責任的人。當我寫成了給梁教授看，梁教授告訴我這個寫得太單薄，內容談不上豐富，特別是沒有對二人之間的相處、箇中關係著墨，人物流於蒼白無力。於是我決定對此加以修改，多加一點留白的地方，讓讀者多一點想像空間。

感激梁秉鈞教授，在百忙之中仍對我的小說提供了不少寶貴的意見，在此再一次感謝梁教授的悉心教導。

清代京劇中之乾旦研究, Ka Wai Chan

欣賞好戲對於觀者而言，定必是一件賞心樂事。要稱得上好戲，好的劇本和演員當然少不了。然而演員背後付出的努力，又有幾人會知？俗語有說："臺上一分鐘，臺下十年功"，若從演員所擅演的 “行當＂作深入研究，便能發現每一 "行當" 背後，均有莫大的學問。眾多行當之中，"乾旦" 最為特別，它超越性別的藩籬，為往後 "旦行" 打下紮實的藝術基礎。社會學者對明清時期的 "乾旦"，皆予以色情成分，而忽視 "乾旦" 的藝術性。故本文將集中研究清代 "乾旦" 之藝術面。

本論文分作六部分：第一部分為引言，主要闡述 "旦" 之來由以及寫作論文動機。第二部分為考證 "乾旦" 的起源。第三部分試從中國戲曲的特性論述 "乾旦" 的文化生態，此部分用 "形"、"神" 兩方面作出分析，以釐定 "乾旦" 的藝術層次。第四及第五部分，分別從 "唱"、"做" 說明 "乾旦" 的藝術性。第六部分為總結。

意象的改造與呈現 : 論唐滌生改編名劇《蝶影紅梨記》之電影改編, Suyi Chen

中國傳統戲劇劇種甚多，能夠流行於香港一地的亦不少。不過，居住於香港的廣府人多，又以操粵方言為主，因此粵劇便能在芸芸劇種中突圍而出。三十年代是香港粵劇的初盛期，名伶名班很多，不單有「薛馬爭雄」，更有「五大流派」。¹ 與此同時，在劇本創作上也有新的發展。為了吸引更多戲迷，戲班不再單單演出江湖十八本，新劇作亦應運而生。² 五十年代是香港粵劇的鼎盛期，名戲班、 名伶、名編劇同期出現，佳作亦多。不少粵劇名作拍成電影，佔同期影片總產量的百份之三十四。³ 唐滌生(1917-1959)一生創作劇作達四百部，是五十年代著名的編劇家。⁴

關於粵劇戲曲的討論，梁沛錦(1936- )對於香港粵劇的發展有宏觀的分析。他介紹了由開埠到近年，粵劇藝術與香港的關係；⁵ 陳守仁(1957- )對於粵劇戲曲的音樂亦有細緻析述，肯定了粵劇戲曲在音樂上的成就；⁶ 香港電影資料館近年亦整理了戲曲電影的資料，⁷ 為紀念任劍輝逝世十五週年，展覽及紀念文集亦相繼出現。⁸ 關於唐滌生的專題探討，則有楊智深(1963- )的《唐滌生的文字世界‧仙 鳳鳴卷》；⁹ 葉紹德、區文鳳亦曾探討唐滌生的劇作，並在粵劇範疇上肯定他的貢獻。¹⁰ 以上所提及的都是對粵劇或唐滌生劇作作宏觀及整體性的析述，若以集中在其中一部劇作的討論而言，則以論述《紫釵記》為主。¹¹ 唐滌生出色的作品甚多，本文現以他其中一部名劇《蝶影紅梨記》作為研究對象。

葉紹德認為：「唐氏劇本到了《蝶影紅梨記》，可算已攀上了高峰。這是個好劇本，從明傳奇《紅梨記》改編而來，原劇只存下幾折戲，故事很簡單；唐氏卻把劇本寫得奇情、浪漫、且富時代感。從戲匭來說，該是一個突破。」¹² 自1956 年起，唐滌生為仙鳳鳴劇團創作了不少佳作，其中大多是改編自古典小說、戲劇的。《牡丹亭驚夢》是第一部實驗作，可惜推出時未能得到觀眾的認同。雖然如 此，唐滌生及仙鳳鳴劇團並沒有因此放棄改編名劇的方向，¹³ 他們於第三屆緊接推出《蝶影紅梨記》，結果好評如潮，這標誌著創作人改變觀眾的品味。

唐滌生改編中國古典名著，再創作為新的作品，而改編就是指這個再創作的過程。唐滌生此舉不單將古典文學作品介紹給香港粵劇觀眾，更是透過改編，吸收、刪削、改動，使之成為另一部的文學經典。¹⁴ 唐劇取材自古典戲曲，在吸收古典文學的養份之餘，也加入了新的想像。唐滌生對於古典文學的改動，如人物角色的再創造，更是豐富了古典文學名著。而文字、電影、舞台，是一部作品的不同表現模式、呈現方法。這是一部作品如何透過不同的方法展現，而不同的媒體有著不同的特性，所表現出來的效果亦有所不同。¹⁵ 但不能否認的是，在呈現模式的轉變過程中，牽涉了不同的人物參與(包括編導、演員等) ，這亦可理解為另一層面上的改編。

本文將以蝶影和紅梨的意象運用，分別從改編進程及文本的內在處理兩個角度作出探析，希望能達到以文學角度探討粵劇改編。在電影中呈現的意象有其獨特性，故本文選取電影版本作為研究文本，而文中所引的曲詞、句白亦是從電影中節取。¹⁶《蝶影紅梨記》唯一的電影版本是由李鐵執導；任劍輝、白雪仙主演的。¹⁷ 在資料運用上，本文透過整理八十年代「唐滌生的藝術」及「唐滌生藝術 迴響」的訪問錄音，¹⁸ 了解五十、六十年代粵劇及粵劇電影的創作及發展，亦從而摸索唐滌生的創作風格。此外，講座¹⁹ 及訪問葉紹德先生也為本文提供了不少關於唐滌生的資料。《姹紫嫣紅開遍——良辰美景仙鳳鳴》一書所收的第二至第九屆仙鳳鳴演出特刊，亦是用以查考當時演出背景的重要資料。

American composer, Judith Lang Zaimont (b. 1945), has composed a considerable number of solo vocal works as well as multiple works encompassing a variety of genres. Zaimont's Nattens Monolog (Night Soliloquy), scena for soprano and piano, is one of several lengthy solo vocal works. Although written for solo voice, the music takes on the form of opera without operatic materials such as costume or staging. Commissioned by Arleen Auger, soprano, and Dalton Baldwin, pianist, Nattens Monolog was composed in 1984 and first performed by them at Lincoln Center in March of 1985. Heitor Villa-Lobos is one of the most important names in South American music and probably the most important name in Brazilian music. His musical output includes symphonies, symphonic poems, operas, chamber music, concertos, and choral music, among other genres. The memory of Civil War prisons has always been contested. Since 1861, generations of Americans struggled with the questions raised by the deaths of approximately 56,000 prisoners of war, almost one-tenth of all Civil War fatalities. During the war, throughout Reconstruction, and well into the twentieth century, a sectional debate raged over the responsibility for the prison casualties. Republican politicians invoked the savage cruelty of Confederate prisons as they waved the bloody shirt, while hundreds of former prisoners published narratives that blamed various prison officials and promoted sectional bitterness. Radical transformations came about in Vienna during the 1780s, as intellectuals in the city embraced the Enlightenment and explored ways in which the movement could be spread. In 1781, Joseph II and his state reformed censorship. In an instant, the Viennese had access to the great scholarly works of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Europe. In an instant, Vienna spawned a multitude of writers, publishing houses, reading rooms and all the accoutrements of a culture of print. As a female-only festival in a significantly gender-segregated society, sāmā cakevā provides a window into Maithil women’s understandings of their society and the sacred, cultural subjectivities, moral frameworks, and projects of self-construction. The festival reminds us that to read male-female relations under patriarchal social formations as a dichotomy between the empowered and the disempowered ignores the porous boundaries between the two in which negotiations and tradeoffs create a symbiotic reliance. Specifically, the festival names two oppositional camps—the male world of law and the female world of relationships—and then creates a male character, the brother, who moves between the two, loyal …

Even though many modern historians agree that Henry IV was less than a brilliant military commander, a small but growing body of revisionist historians believe that his reputation deserves to be reassessed. While acknowledging his military innovations and battlefield successes, his critics see him primarily as an opportunist with a reckless streak who failed time and again to take full advantage of his victories. The revisionist school, however, believes that these interpretations are based on an inaccurate assessment of early modern warfare and its unique political, religious, and social components.
