The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Colombia at this time is facing dissidence from the group Koinonia. This research was carried out in order to produce material to help pastors, ministerial students, and laypeople to understand and face this dissident movement. The Bible and the writings of Ellen G. White provide the principles on which the Seventh-day Adventist Church has been established. These principles have been applied in order to face the problem caused by the group Koinonia in Colombia.

Problem

The Seventh-day Adventist Church has accepted the command to take the gospel to every nation, tribe, race, and tongue. As part of its strategy to accomplish this mission, the church supports colleges and universities where Christian professionals are prepared so that when they graduate they may join the evangelistic work commanded by God. Montemorelos University is a part of the Adventist educational system. The purpose of this study was to determine which factors encourage the persistence of women in the pursuit of Science, Math, and Engineering (SME) careers. Surveys with 36 parallel pairs of theory and history questions regarding the importance and the aptness of variables identified in the literature were completed by 205 SME career women. The variables covered three educational levels: High School, Undergraduate and Graduate. Results reveal which variables fit the experiences of these women and were also believed by them to be important to women in the pursuit of an SME career goal. The author argues for the use of hagiographical texts to expand the evidence for the theological tradition, precisely during the early Middle Ages when more obvious sources are wanting. Her thesis is that there is sound basis for reading the lives of the saints through the lens of doctrinal theology. After giving this evidence, she then exemplifies the value of such a reading by an ecclesiological analysis of Rudolf of Saxony’s life of St. Leoba, a companion of St. Boniface.]

The antibilingüe movement that is spreading across the United States has become one of the most controversial in the debate on the education of linguistic minorities issues. Ron Unz, the California millionaire who has managed to eliminate bilingual programs in California and Arizona and trying to do the same today in Colorado and Massachusetts, is a clear example of assimilationist movement, which argues that immigrants should give up their languages and vernacular cultures to integrate into American society. The bibliography is inspired by Mary La Lone’s Gabrielino Indians of Southern California: An Annotated Ethnohistoric Bibliography, and continues where she left off in 1976. Her bibliography contained 182 items, all of which are included in this volume as well as 374 items post 1976.
