Heterophenomenology downplays the reality of the internal experiential aspects of consciousness in deference to an intentional, language-based model of consciousness that places emphasis on the neutral acceptance of the speech reports of subjects as the basis for understanding consciousness – thus placing the foundations of consciousness in a physical, monistic (physical sans soul), computational device (the brain). I shall argue that this methodology can be seen as a form of empathic extrapolation of self-understanding onto the other in dialogue, akin to the work of early hermeneutics. 11 This methodology is closely tied in with a contemporary connectionist conception of computability …

By examining the historical treatment of punishment and the results of those practices, we can more accurately diagnose the problems and prescribe the proper remedies. It is time that we focus on healing instead of simply treating the symptoms with catastrophic intervention. As with medicine, if a problem is detected and treated early the probability of recovery and a healthy life are much higher than beginning treatment after the body has become critically ill. I propose a holistic approach to the problem of crime and punishment and here, specifically, focus on the alternative to current correctional practices. The practice of …

Spanish religious art tends to be theatrical in nature. During the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, for example, the original setting of sculpted figures invariably emulated a stage in order to create a dramatic environment in which light, smells, and sounds were controlled for effect. Just consider the religious sculptures frequently paraded in processions or the statuary placed in chapels and niche-like recesses. 禮記有云：「飲食男女，人之大欲存焉。」《孟子．告子上》也說：“食、色，性也” 食和性是人類的自然本能，都是人類的基本生理需要。在很多小說裡，男 女主角的情慾關係總離不開 “吃”，當中所描寫的男女互相愛慕或調情的例子實在是多不勝數。從 “男女進餐” 的情節，我們往往能窺探到食、情、慾之間相當複雜的關係。

本文的內容主要集中討論現代華文小說裡的飲食與情慾的關係，透過分析小說中吃與愛慾的情節，探討男女在追求愛情中出現的現象和衝突。小說中的男女各自極力從 “吃” 中尋求歡愉，他們在飽與餓，幻想與現實之間不斷地進行拉鋸。此外，在他們追逐情和慾的過程中，所有人性的慾念、貪婪和變態行為也因此而表露無遺。有人因吃而生愛，有人因吃而厭棄愛情，也有人在貪婪的吃與慾中游離，他們經過一番對情慾的追求，最終也不能得到自己想要的東西。所以本文的內容將會分成三個部份，分別為「食與情」、「食與家」、「食與慾」三個章節， 從三個角度去探討食、情、慾在小說裡的千絲萬縷的關係。

唐滌生《紫釵記》角色人物研究, Tsz Wing Wu

千百年來，霍小玉的故事經過多次改編，但生命力依然旺盛，動人心弦。明代戲劇大師湯顯祖將此故事改編成《紫釵記》傳奇，把它搬上舞台，將之發揚光大；現代編劇家唐滌生將之再度改編，並融合粵劇藝術，成就卓越。其改編劇本有兩大特點：其一是著重重新塑造原著的人物，以加強藝術性；其二是剪裁並濃縮原著內容，而能保持故事的完整性。本文擬從唐滌生《紫釵記》的改編情況和人物角色的塑造兩方面進行探討，以分析唐氏改編劇本的藝術成就。本文共分七部分。第一章導論。第二章研究唐滌生《紫釵記》之本事以及其故事源流；然後第三章分析此劇與蔣防《霍小玉傳》及湯顯祖《紫釵記》的依違情況；第四章繼而討論《紫釵記》與粵劇角色分配之關係；第五章探討唐滌生《紫釵記》的戲劇衝突；第六章探討唐滌生重新塑造人物的藝術性與思想性。最後是第七章總結。

從香港離島天后廟分析香港天后崇拜之特點, Ka Lai Chun

香港作為一中西文化交流之地，就宗教信仰而言，林林種種，如天主教、基督教、道教、佛教等等，可說是五花八門。此等（這些）宗教均建有其專屬之教堂、廟、寺、菴等，並有明確的宗教宗旨及教義以傳道。然而天后信仰則有所不同，衪既非佛教，亦非道教，若要將之歸類，天后之信仰則可說屬於《楚辭》記載中湘水流域人民所崇拜的湘君、湘夫人，這一類對自然力量之崇拜。自古以來，民間普通流傳著對天后崇拜之風氣，天后由一地域之海神演變為全國所信奉之海神，甚至成為一全能之神，原因何在?

香港天后廟的位置大多在沿海及村落的中心位置，究其原因，初期的民間信仰者多為漁民、蜑民。面對茫茫大海，往往產生一種恐懼的心理，是以天后於他們心中，則如同一無形的守護神，船民及航海家均相信，天后能拯救他們 免於災禍，保佑他們於海上之平安。由此可見，天后之傳播與這些以海為生的族群有著密不可分的關係。

自古以來，香港以一漁港發展為世界大都會而著名於世。然而人們對於這位陪同香港發展之海神，大多略知皮毛，是以以此為題，希望能使人們對港天后之信仰有更深入之認識。
