He describes his first impressions of the team as promising since the freshmen consistently beat the varsity students. As the web is increasingly integrated into artistic creation, the launching of exhibitions and the building of archives has become a creative practice. A case in point was the 2001 biennial, "Beau Monde: Towards a Redeed Cosmopolitanism," curated by Dave Hickey. It links the curator's name to the exhibition, so that the curators can be as prestigious as the artists they exhibit. Synopsis: In October 1998 in the middle of the prairie outside Laramie, Wyoming, Matthew Shepard, a 21 year old student at the University of Wyoming, was tied to a fence post, severely beaten, robbed, , tortured and left, alone, to die. His body -- battered, bloody, barely clinging to life -- was discovered eighteen hours later. He was rushed to the hospital and put on life support. He died five days later. The reason for this brutal crime? Matthew Shepard was gay.

This article examines the sociological and historical context of an important legal case which took place in 1997 in Moscow and involved so called "sects and cults" operating in Russia. The case was a libel action brought against Alexander Dvorkin, a functionary of the Moscow Patriarchy of the Russian Orthodox Church, who had published some extremely damning material about a number of newer and smaller faiths in Russia. The plaintiff was the Committee for Protection of Human Rights, headed by noted Soviet dissident, Father Gleb Yakunin.
