This collection is composed of materials used by Janet Gibbs Reed to create an index to Mason County, Virginia (later West Virginia) death records. Additional materials in the collection are cemetery records from cemeteries in Mason County, Mason County Court orders, and an index to deaths in Pt. Pleasant, WV in the 1970s. The second box contains the completed indexes.

These photographs include one photo of the Valentine and Newcomb building, an interior shot from 1936, group shots from company picnics and outings, and other shots including a Huntington High School Group Photo, c. 1940s and a photo of the Nineteenth Annual Banquet, National Retail Dry Goods Association, 1930.

Non-recurring congestion caused by incidents is a major source of traffic delay in freeway systems. With the objective of reducing these traffic delays, traffic operation managers are focusing on detecting incident conditions and dispatching emergency management teams to the scene quickly. During the past few decades, a few number of conventional algorithms and artificial neural network models were proposed to automate the process of detecting incident conditions on freeways. These algorithms and models, known as automatic incident detection methods (AIDM), have experienced a varying degree of detection capability.

The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalent characteristics and elements of young adult poetry by examining a random sample of poems by Mel Glenn and Paul Janeczko. The characteristics and elements include themes, subjects, and other items of apparent relevance to teenagers' lives.

Because poems are the data being studied, a qualitative approach is utilized. More specifically, textual analysis is employed because this type of analysis is focused upon text.

The findings show that both sets of poetry contain similar elements and characteristics. All poems studied are of high poetic merit, contain imagery, are relatively simple, and …

In an interview with Michael Naimark, his work and experiences were discussed. Naimark talks about the beginning of his career at MIT and his experience with technology and media in the late 70s. He also discusses about his experience with Atari Research, Apple, and Lucasfilms. He then describes his life as an artist, from 1992 to 1996 and where where that brought him with his knowledge of technology.

In "Web Taxonomy for Issue 8", by Jan Ekenberg, ten different net artworks from different artists are presented. Using the icon key, audiences can view works in different categories and in different combinations such as participatory, information mapping, ironic/satiric, collaborative, poetic, formalist, documentational, narrative, and unintentional works. Artworks that can be viewed include "Addfield" by Dimos Dimmitriou, "Desktop Is" by Alexi Shulgin, and "The Poem* Navigator" by Merel Mirage. In part of the three categories, participatory, information mapping, and documentational, "Desktop Is" is a piece that explores the computer in itself. This dissertation argues that there is a clear gay poetic tradition dating back to nineteenth century Europe, and it describes an historical taxonomy for gay poetry in America since 1945 by reference to its characteristic themes, influences and leading figures. After a brief discussion of early precursors such as Paul Verlaine, Arthur Rimbaud, Walt Whitman, C. P. Cavafy, Hart Crane, Langston Hughes and W. H. Auden, the dissertation traces, through close explication of texts, the works of Harold Norse, Allen Ginsberg, Tennessee Williams, Frank O'Hara, Adrian Stanford, Richard Howard, Alfred Corn and Essex Hemphill. The Role Of Political And Sexual Identity In The Works Of Klaus Mann, James R. Keller

This critical study of Klaus Mann attempts to determine the role of sexual and political identity in his works. By examining such recurrent thematic patterns as the work of art as progeny, supernatural births, the image of the writer as soldier and monk, or obsession with death, among others, the study finds in Klaus Mann a characteristic sense of "social self-identity." The study considers Mann's fiction and non-fiction prose, drama, and diaries to show the interrelationship between his political development as an anti-fascist and his sexual identity as a gay writer.

Lip-slur exercises comprise part of the practice routines of many professional and serious amateur brasswind players. There are several reasons why so many players practise lip-slurs. One of those reasons is the belief that lip-slurs contribute to the development of the brasswind high register. This study argues that while there is a vast amount of anecdotal evidence from many authors widely deemed to be influential in the form of method books or writings that lip-slurs can contribute to the development of the brasswind high register, there has been little research to support this widely held belief. This research examines an approach to art making and viewing that questions the acceptance of the autonomous object in favour of a transient experience. It focuses specifically on work and writing from the 1960s by the American artist Robert Morris that attempted to alter the then predominant Formalist understanding of the art object as autonomous and self-referential. This thesis exhibition consists of a series of urban landscape paintings. These paintings attempt to explore the issues of transition and flux within the modern environment on the edge of Lincoln as the city expands into rural areas. The paintings were all executed in acrylic and comprise a broad range of sizes on both hardboard and wooden panels. This article adopts a novel approach by examining the activities of management consultants in terms of the dramaturgical metaphor. This is a useful framework within which to illuminate their activities since a number of service characteristics combine to create a context within which the key task of management consultants is to convince clients of their quality and value. Impression management is therefore a core feature of consultancy work. In this sense management consultants are viewed as systems of persuasion creating compelling images which persuade clients of their quality and worth.
