The Swami And The Rorschach: Spiritual Practice, Religious Experience, And Perception, Diane Jonte-Pace

I propose that the Rorschach test might serve well as such a method for investigating religion, spirituality, psychological structure, and cognition. In addition, it might bring some clarity to the debate between the decontextualists and the constructivists. In this essay I discuss three unique Rorschach studies that, in my view, represent an important step toward such a psychology of religious experience and examine their implications for Forman's decontextualist thesis.

Scholars use many terms to talk about religious activity, most basically, liturgy, worship, ritual, and recently performance. Although these terms reflect different perspectives and assumptions, they share the supposition that ceremonial actions characterized by a self-conscious formality and traditionalism are a primary aspect of religion and an important focus in any project to understand religion. Nonetheless, most theories of religion since the Enlightenment have tended to emphasize the more cognitive aspects of religion no matter how rooted these were thought to be in emotional, doctrinal, or communal experience. Transcriptions and translations of documents for the year 1809, that are part of the archival papers known as the Pueblo Papers or the Spanish-Mexican Archives. These papers, which are housed at the San Jose Historical Museum and managed by the History Museums of San Jose, span the history of the City of San Jose︡ (originally named El Pueblo de San Jose︡ de Guadalupe) from the founding of the second pueblo site in 1797 until the admission of California to statehood in 1850.

Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

In her memoir, and 1870s revision of her journal and diary, Louisa Barnes Pratt tells of childhood in Massachusetts and Canada during the War of 1812, and independent career as a teacher and seamstress in New England, and her marriage to the Boston seaman Addison Pratt.

Converting to the LDS Church, the Pratts moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, from where Brigham Young sent Addison on the first of the long missions to the Society Islands that would leave Louisa on her own. As a sole available parent, she hauled her children west to Winter Quarters, to Utah in 1848, to California, …

The Danes have always expressed their joys by having

festivals. Fastelavns (Fest before Lent) is celebrated on

Shrove Tuesday . The Fifth of June, a traditional celebration,

remembers the day Denmark got its first constitution and

became a democracy. America's patriotism and freedom are

celebrated on the Fourth of July. The bounties of agriculture

are celebrated with the annual Harvest Festival. Christmas is

celebrated not only in the majesty and solemnity of a candlelight

church service but by dancing around a huge tree when

the children also recieve bags of candy, apples and nuts,

and gifts.
