The article describes cyberfeminism and how it relates to the art collaborative group, VNS Matrix. The VNS Matrix is based in Australia and comprises members; Josephine Starrs, Julianne Pierce, Virginia Barratt, and Francesca da Rimini. VNS Matrix's goal is to resist the gendered dominance of technologies by questioning identity and gender. The articles discusses the "VNS Matrix Manifesto" and one of the VNS Matrix’s major works, "All New Gen", and introduces Rimini’s site called Gashgirl, which is also the name of one of her personas. The 1998 article, "Chik Tek Symposium Revisited", by Helen Wood, consists of interviews with female artists who all used technology in their work. The Chik Tek symposium took place in November 1997 at the San Jose Museum of Art where many women would share their works and thoughts through presentations and discussions. A paper highlighting several books that explain theories of “cyberfeminism” by looking at works created by Sadie Plant, Sandy Stone and VNS Matrix. The author highlights written materials like Zeros and Ones (Sadie Plant, 1997) and The War of Desire and Technology (Sandy Stone, 1995) created by cyberfeminists to accredit the innovations of women in technological spaces.
