The Hamilton Rating Scale For Depression And Rhythmic Competency: A Correlational Study, Michael J. Migliore
Masters Theses
The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a relationship between a test of rhythmic competency and the psychomotor retardation subtest of the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression. Twenty-six endogenously depressed inpatient adults participated in a medication-free pretest. Posttests were administered When a) values reached therapeutic blood levels and b) subjects were clinically observed to have improved. Results demonstrated modest correlations between the Hamilton scale and several subtests of the Rhythmic Competency measure; however, based on this study, the Rhythmic Competency Test could not be recommended as an indicator of psychomotor retardation.

Singing Schools In Southcentral Kentucky, Donald Beisswenger

Singing school teachers, who teach rural church congregations to sing from shape-note gospel songbooks, are still working in southcentral Kentucky, but the demand for them is smaller than it was in the first half of the twentieth century. Many gospel music enthusiasts who once looked to songbooks as a major source for new material and for developing singing skills turned …

Schutz And The Organ, Quentin Faulkner
Schutz And The Organ, Quentin Faulkner
Glenn Korff School of Music: Faculty Publications
The year 1985 marks the anniversaries of four celebrated Baroque musicians. Three of them--Scarlatti, Handel and Bach--belong to the late Baroque and were renowned during their time as keyboard virtuosi. While it is possible that Schutz had already begun keyboard training as a student in Weissenfels, the early formation of …
