This is the program for the Instrumental Repertoire Class recital, held on December 15, 1978, in the Mabee Fine Arts Center Recital Hall. The following students performed: pianist Kirk Bullington, pianist Terri Pierce, pianist Vickie Funderburk, and pianist Rita Hodges. Additionally, two groups performed: the Ouachita Brass Sextet, featuring trumpet player Mr. David Chism, trumpet player Jimmy Blakley, euphonium player Stephen Hill, trombone player Jeff Parker, alto horn player Keith Rutledge, and tubist Shannon Scott, and the String Class, Mrs. Candace Burton, Allen Cole, Steve Blatchford, and Daniel Humble.

Many of the concepts for my imagery are drawn from an attitude of affirming the decorative in art and a personal choice to further explore those possibilities. Ornamentation can enhance art, not because it is superfluous and not because it can embellish life with beauty, but as in the ornamental arts themselves it can magnify qualities already present in material life and work. In this presentation I present my decorative ideas in art from a contemporary perspective in terms of an art historical context a well as through my individual vision represented by paintings, lithographs, and paper pieces. The American Efforts To Modernize The Egyptian Army Under Khedive Ismail, Robin Joy Love Buxton
Dissertations and Theses
From 1869 to 1878 approximately fifty American military officers were invited to Egypt by Khedive Ismail for the purpose of modernizing the Egyptian army. During that time the American officers led by General Charles P. Stone designed a staff system for the Egyptian army and they established a series of technical schools not only for the staff officers but for the rank and file as well. In addition to the reorganization, the American officers led exploratory expeditions into central Africa, they refortified the Egyptian coastline and they built roads and lighthouses.
