Mystik Und Pietismus In Der Deutschen Sprache, Unter Besonderer BerüCksichtigung Des Wortes "Gelassenheit" (Mysticism And Pietism In The German Language With Special Emphasis Upon The Word "Gelassenheit"), Clyde E. Antwine

Dissertations and Theses

In this thesis attention is focused on two religious movements, Mysticism and Pietism, both of which made significant contributions toward the enrichment of the German language.

The 14th century was the "golden age" of German Mysticism. For this reason special consideration is given to this period of history and to the three most prominent 14th century German mystics: Meister Eckhart, Johann Tauler, and Heinrich Seuse. In order to understand their struggle with the language a brief synopsis of mystic theology is given in particular their concept of how the unio mystica, the mystical union of the soul with God, can …

A Brief Look At Passover, Jon Potest Jan 1977

A Brief Look At Passover, Jon Potest

Honors Theses

The purpose of this paper is to briefly examine the tradition of the Passover in light of its origins, historicization and historical development, and its relevance to the Christology expressed in the New Testament gospels. It is necessary to realize from the beginning that in some cases the traditions being dealt with are ancient, and therefore there is scant concrete evidence with which to deal. However, I feel that one can deal with what evidence there is available and realize that his conclusions must be somewhat tentative.

Domestic Architecture As A Chronological Criterion For Early Bronze Age Palestine, Dorothea Ann Blow Jan 1977

Domestic Architecture As A Chronological Criterion For Early Bronze Age Palestine, Dorothea Ann Blow

Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)

In recent years archaeological investigators have become increasingly interested in the study of the Proto-Urban and Early Bronze Ages in Palestine. These periods have been relatively neglected in the history of excavating largely due to the fact that on the most important sites the levels of these periods lie buried beneath the later accumulation of the tells.

At sites where Early Bronze levels have been uncovered, little attention has been given to the domestic architecture, mostly due to the archaeologist’s predisposition to unearth temple complexes and public buildings in the acropolis area. The excavator’s have also been concerned to examine …

Planning, Politics And Public Opinion In The 1975 Refugee Resettlement Program, Edwin Donald Miller

Legacy ETDs

Few events in recent American History have elicited as much emotionalism and controversy as the fall of South Vietnam. Although American troops had not fought in the country since 1973, Americans in the spring of 1975 were acutely sensitive to the rapidly declining military situation and the plight of thousands of Vietnamese refugees. In March and April, efforts by President Gerald R. Ford to secure emergency military aid for the Saigon government created a furor among politicians and the public. Polls showed that a majority of Americans felt further military aid to Saigon would only prolong the suffering of millions …
