Holidays Increase Pressure On Children In Changing Families, Kay Hyatt Nov 1996

Holidays Increase Pressure On Children In Changing Families, Kay Hyatt

General University of Maine Publications

Holidays center on family and traditions, but when families change, so do the traditions. En este artículo se presenta un análisis cuantitativo con el propósito de descubrir la densidad de los anglicismos en el léxico disponible dominicano de acuerdo con diversas variables. Holyfield And Tyson - When Magic Play At Arena, City Loses Money, Richard C. Crepeau Nov 1996

Holyfield And Tyson - When Magic Play At Arena, City Loses Money, Richard C. Crepeau

On Sport and Society

A week after the Boston College story broke the gamblers took a bath, not on college football but on the godfather of sports gambling, boxing. Evander Holyfield's upset of the century over Mike Tyson was a disaster for those who set the odds and cover the bets. With odds running 25-1 to open and dropping to 5-1 just before the fight, bookmakers lost several million dollars. Major money was placed on Holyfield in the last few days, at least some of it coming from the Holyfield camp itself, and the smart money on the favorite never surfaced as betting closed.

Tyranny Of The Many, Jonathan A. Plucker Nov 1996

Tyranny Of The Many, Jonathan A. Plucker

General University of Maine Publications

In this age of government distrust, the voter referendum appears to be the ultimate democratic fantasy come true: Government by the people, for the people, without any interference by politicians, special interests, or other denizens of the American political system. But referenda in the past couple of years call into question the wisdom of placing legislation directly before the voting public for approval.
