"Tabi-Tabi Po!": An Exploration Of Non-Mainstream Art Materials As Medium In Creating Lenticular Art On Philippine Lower Mythology And Cultural Values, Fernando R. Lacson Jr.

DLSU Arts Congress Conference Proceedings

Art functions as a dynamic medium through which cultural beliefs and values are continuously expressed and reinterpreted. Despite the richness of Philippine mythology, its integration into contemporary interactive visual art remains underexplored, presenting an opportunity to recontextualize indigenous narratives for modern audiences. The study focuses on three figures from local folklore—Nuno sa Punso, Tiyanak, and Diwata—and examines how their moral and symbolic attributes may be translated into experimental lenticular artworks. Guided by Functional Myth Theory and Interactive Aesthetics, the study utilizes a practice-based approach, treating artistic creation as both method and inquiry. The research involved the development of two-way lenticular …

Art In Laparoscopy: A Fun Way Of Training In Minimally Invasive Surgery, Michael Dennis I. Dela Paz

DLSU Arts Congress Conference Proceedings

Paramount to the safety and efficiency of any surgical procedures warrants the enhancement of skills of the surgeon whether in training or practice. In minimally invasive surgery, one should inherently have excellent depth perception, consistent hand-eye coordination, and skillful use of the dominant and non-dominant hands to be able to perform operations with precision, efficiency, and safety. For most surgeons, sustaining or even improving these laparoscopic surgical skills through traditional drills would sometimes reach a point that it seems to be monotonous, and repetitive. Breaking away from the traditional skills will make the training and honing of minimally invasive surgical …

“We Are Writers At The End Of The Day”: Institutional Support, Accountability, And Community In Writing Groups For Faculty Of Color, María P. Carvajal Regidor

The Writing Center Journal

This article provides insight into how an accountability writing group for faculty of color supports faculty writers. It argues that targeted programming for faculty of color can serve as a modest anti-racist intervention into the white supremacist structures that often harm BIPOC faculty and their success in academia. Examining interview, survey, and registration data from a writing group for faculty of color, the article shows how the writing group functions as a counterspace, enabling participants not only to spend more time on their writing but to bring their full selves into an academic space and to form community. The article …

“Like Learning To Play Chess”: Relationality And The Development Of Interpersonal Communication Skills In Writing Center Consultants, Kara Poe Alexander

The Writing Center Journal

This study explores how writing center consultants develop interpersonal communication (IPC) skills through relational interactions during peer tutoring sessions. Grounded in the theoretical framework of relationality, which views learning as emerging through relationships, I analyze interviews with undergraduate and graduate consultants at a private R1 university. The findings demonstrate that one-on- one conferences foster a broad spectrum of IPC skills, including adaptability, listening, intercultural communication, asking questions, building rapport, giving constructive criticism, setting boundaries, empathizing, and patience. The development of these knowledge and skills is cultivated through collaborative, meaning-making interactions with writers. As such, writing centers emerge as dynamic, relationship-driven …

ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement

An increasing number of universities are integrating service-learning (SL) to fulfill their social mission. However, sustainable institutionalization of SL remains a persistent challenge. This study identifies and analyzes the factors, actors, and strategies that drive and inhibit SL institutionalization in higher education. Using the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, a systematic literature review analyzed 52 documents from seven academic databases (including WoS, Scopus, and ERIC). The findings were grouped into three sections: cultural (integration into institutional values/missions), process (articulation within teaching, research, and outreach), and structural dimensions (dedicated support entities). The results obtained reveal a reciprocal relationship where cultural alignment enables processual …

Historians debate whether Bonifacio’s Katipunan and the Bourgeois Revolution of 1896 had an ideology comparable to that of the Creole and anti-colonial revolutions, which later evolved into the anti-imperialist revolutions like the Chinese, Vietnamese, Cuban, and Indonesian revolutions. Some claim that this ideology can be discerned in the writings of Bonifacio and Jacinto, which supposedly drew inspiration from the French Revolution and its foundational liberal philosophical tradition, together with the doctrines of the Masonic movement. Others insist that the writings of Bonifacio and Jacinto should be reread and reviewed repeatedly because it is there that this ideology may be found, …
