It is the specific purpose to illustrate the journey to worship of households in the City of Waterloo, Ontario and to explain the spatial pattern utilizing the Principle of Least Effort.

It is discovered that if historical tension and dimensional tension are considered, one is able to predict the actual pattern of the journey to worship with seventy per cent accuracy. The fact that a large per cent of the sample attend the closest church of their …

A Study Of Missionary Activity In The Diocese Of Athabasca, 1884-1903, George Michael Brandak Jan 1972

A Study Of Missionary Activity In The Diocese Of Athabasca, 1884-1903, George Michael Brandak

Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)

The historical advantage the Roman Catholic Church held over its Anglican counterpart in the Athabasca region militated against the latter’s success. Owing to the dominant position established by the Oblates a generation prior to a resolute effort by the Church Missionary Society to evangelize the native population, the Anglicans were at a distinct disadvantage. Bishop Richard Young’s policies were shaped not by a master plan but rather by the necessity of having to react to the activities of the Catholics. Despite expansion, the Church of England was able to establish a firm base only in those areas which, initially, the …

The Christology Of Mark, Gregory L. Jackson Jan 1972

The Christology Of Mark, Gregory L. Jackson

Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)

In this thesis I intend to investigate the three layers of tradition in the Christology of Mark: that of the historical Jesus, the Plaestinian community, and the Hellenistic Church. The result of this work will be a clearer picture of Mark’s contribution to the Christology of the Church. I propose that Mark constructed his gospel to bring out the role of Jesus as the Suffering Servant who was exalted through his crucifixion and resurrection.

Some Disparities Between The Mackay Report On “Religion In The Schools” And The Conerns Of Today’S Youth, John Mcmurray

Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)

In March 1969, the Mackay Committee published its Report on Religious Information and Moral Development. This Report was the result of a three-year study by the Mackay Committee on the state of religious education in the public schools of Ontario. Its purpose was to recommend a “program” of religious information and moral development which would meet the needs of youth in a pluralistic school system as they seek to live responsible lives in today’s world.

This thesis contends that there are some disparities between the Mackay Report and the concerns of youth today. Its particular stance has been shaped …

For this study all twenty novels of Les Rougon-Macquart, publsihed between 1870-1893, were examined. Violence was not peculiar to any one segment of Second Empire society. No study of the Second Empire would be complete without including this aspect of its society.

Ibsen’S Influence On The Spanish Dramatist Jose Echegaray, Isabel Alvarez Jan 1968

Ibsen’S Influence On The Spanish Dramatist Jose Echegaray, Isabel Alvarez

Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)

In the history of literature there are certain writers who owe their importance not only to their creative stature, but to the fact that they give life or incorporate ideas and ideals of their times that had hardly registered in the intellectual sensibility of the elite. Such men represent the new stages in the awareness of men’s condition. One of them was the playwright José Echegaray y Eizaguirre (1832-1916). This thesis records in a modest way some aspects of a renovated consciousness.

Several dramatic critics have pointed out that the Norwegian Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906), influenced the plays of Echegaray; but …
