Fixed expression and idioms are part of the translated discourse. They are ready-made constructions that summarize an idea or a concept by using outstanding formulas. Translate these expressions is a big challenge for the translator. Thus, a well done translation does not mean mastering the linguistic skills of both languages, since the text does not contain just linguistic facts. It is also about culture, emotions, connotations, style and the author’s genius. Formulaic language often presents significant issue in translation just as well as finding a fixed expression as equivalent.

Translation from French to Amazigh language of the simple past tense , is a way to compare between the two different system to get differences and similarities in order to make equivalence between the two languages.

This comparative study shows different uses of simple past to express present and future and for descriptioneven if there are differences in the way to express this tense in both languages translation is possible and it shows the diversity and richness of Amazigh language.

Amazigh language has recently passed from oral literature towriting, this article is about the translation from French language to Amazigh of the novel “le singe” of Maupassant, this experience is important in the way that it shows the limits of Amazigh language in vocabulary and syntax it is also a way to see the opportunities and possibilities of this language in this article some lexical and grammatical problems are presented and the choice that the translator made to solve them.
