Two small printed pamphlets were also included with the recording that was sponsored by the Kentucky Historical Society and the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives and produced by Clay Guance of the University of Kentucky.

Downing discusses the content of the exhibition, associated printed matter and the return of unsold items, and provides background on the works “Isidore’s Door,” “Michael’s Door,” “The Window of Arthemise Fougerousse” and “The Chicken Bones.” Includes an unidentifed commentary on some of his paintings, and a list of 11 works to be exhibited.

From Camp Jefferson, Ohio, he thanks his family for supplies but adamantly dispels rumors that his regiment and others lack food. He notes recruiting efforts and speculates on the length of the war, which he defies England (“John Bull”) to enter on the Confederate side. From Bowling Green, Kentucky, he expresses doubt that peace is near and refers to meeting family friends in the town.

The letter, from committee chairman Mrs. Charles D. Greer, laments the neglect of the tomb of President Zachary Taylor near Louisville, Kentucky, and outlines the Committee’s intent to construct an entrance to a “Memorial Lane” leading from Brownsboro Road to the monument at the cemetery in which Taylor is interred.

Includes a rendering of the proposed entrance.

He also complains about his treatment in the corps, which included an accusation of smuggling. Although they address her as "sister" and "aunt," no relation is apparent. They discuss religious (Methodist) and family matters. Also includes a letter from Samuel Landstreet to H. Stevens and Charlotte Belt in which Landstreet expresses his feelings about emancipation. Finally, an appeasement agreement made between a prominent group of Baptist leaders in 1892, apparently in Louisville.

A major influence upon many parts of society is that of Greek and Roman mythology. While there are several interpretations of what myths are, this study will define them as stories from Greek or Roman origins that seek to explain some natural or social phenomena or to provide moral lessons. Myths were especially influential during the Southern Renaissance, a period of literary reinvention in America during the 1920s and 1930s.
