Traces, the South Central Kentucky Genealogical Society's quarterly newsletter, was first published in 1973. The Society changed its name in 2016 to the Barren County Historical Society. The Kentucky Humanities Council is an independent, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities committed to providing programs and services that facilitate an understanding and appreciation of Kentucky’s cultural heritage and future. The Council’s program catalog features scholars from across the Commonwealth who make presentations on a myriad of humanities topics. Later, costumed actors, who delivered dramatic monologues about Kentucky’s famous, infamous, and composite personalities, were added. Finding aid and full text (click on "Additional Files") for Manuscripts Small Collection 1416. James Burcham's writing titled "Recollections of the Early Settlement of Jackson County, [Indiana]," which was submitted to a Kossuth, Indiana newspaper for publication in 1874. He records experiences of his pioneer days in Indiana, ca. 1800s-1820s, and particularly describes relations with Indians and fort life.

“The Muhlenberg County [Kentucky] Heritage” was published four times a year by the Muhlenberg County Genealogical Society in Greenville, Kentucky, from 1978 to 2001. The cover title sometimes appears as “The Heritage.” The publication’s purpose was to support the society and to publish information about the genealogy, culture, and history of Muhlenberg County. A separate annual index was printed each year for volumes 1-14. Afterwards, each issue was indexed separately. Generally, the index is to surnames only.

Vadie Williams, Folk Artist: Drawnwork As A Reflection Of Personal Identity In Rural Kentucky, Elizabeth Hester
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
This study focuses on Vadie Conner Williams, an individual folk artist, and the drawnwork she has created throughout her lifetime. Included is a description of her rural farm background, her needlework skills and her creative process. The study also examines the significance of drawnwork to Williams and determines how she has adapted her work to satisfy her personal needs as well as the needs of her customers. Based on tape recorded interviews and a close examination of her work, the study concludes that drawnwork is an integral part of Williams's everyday life; it is an indicator of her beliefs and …
