Papers, photographs, and scrapbooks of Sam Lumpkin of Tupelo, Mississippi. He served as a Democrat in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 1932 to 1942 and as Speaker of the House from 1940-1942. Lumpkin was Lieutenant Governor of Mississippi from 1948 to 1952. During the 1952 presidential election, he led the faction of Democrats who supported Republican presidential nominee Dwight D. Eisenhower.

"Social isolation is both a phrase and an experience that has defined the past year in the wake of the global Covid-19 pandemic. Jared Ragland’s ongoing photographic travelogue, What Has Been Will Be Again: Photographic Meditations on Social Isolation in Alabama, expressly evokes the loneliness that has characterized this period; solitary subjects inhabit these frames, and many images in the series are devoid of people altogether. Dr. Kristina Killgrove delivered a fascinating virtual lecture entitled “Death Comes to Oplontis: Victims of Mt. Vesuvius Reveal Life in 79 A.D.” The talk offered a rich supplement to current students in Dr. Jacqueline DiBiasie-Sammons’ Fall 2021 course, Art and Archaeology in Pompeii and Herculaneum, but was accessible to more general audience as well and had more that sixty attendees.

The Pandemic In Pieces, Cam Hudson
Honors Theses
This thesis attempts to reconcile with the year of our lives that was blanketed by the heavy weight of a global pandemic. It is told in flash memoirs in the hopes that it will not be overwhelming to read or grapple with. It explores mental illness, lack of control, impermanence, and the suffocatingly cyclical nature of daily life during COVID. I hope this thesis finds you well.
