The purpose of this study is to assist the Christian Holiness Association's Department of Evangelism by locating on maps churches within the association that are in the states of Oregon and Washington. In-depth studies of Portland, Oregon, and its surrounding area; Seattle. Washington, Spokane, Washington, and Vancouver Washington, are also included., The in-depth studies include census tracts which show areas where population is sparse and where it is dense, how many member churches are in each population area, and concentrations of a particular member denomination's churches. There are many phases of the pastoral ministry, each one having a unique and necessary purpose. A high emphasis has always been placed on the pastor as a preacher. Serving as administrator has also been encouraged. Today, the phase of the pastor as counselor has been reaching the forefront. It is true that these are all vital parts of the pastoral ministry, but there is yet another phase that must not be neglected. This is pastoral calling. Without effectively practicing this phase, the pastor's ministry is lacking and incomplete.

An influential book, Latin American Church Growth, has brought to light one of the most acute problems in missions today. It reported that there are about seventy-five thousand men who serve as pastors in Latin America, but only fifteen thousand of them have ever had any .Bible training. This problem is magnified by the rapid increase in church growth.

Because of the increasing use of drugs in this country today, the writer has a deep concern for the potential dangers inherent in the problem. On August 21, 1971, the American Broadcasting Company presented on Channel two in Portland, Oregon, "Heroes and Heroin." On the program they quoted President Nixon, as saying, "drug abuse is America's number one enemy." On June 17, 1971, President Nixon asked congress for 155 million dollars to help stem drug abuse. He described drug addiction as having "assumed the dimensions of a national emergency."
