In the mid 1960 1 s, a new and unique phenomenon began to hit the religious establishment in America. Hippies, drug addicts, and the restless youth of America began converting to Christianity in unprecedented numbers. The new Christians became known variously as Jesus freaks, Jesus people, and street Christians. The developing movement became known as the Jesus revolution or the Jesus movement.

It is the purpose of this study to trace the development of the Jesus movement on the West Coast from 1965 to 1975.

The first Free Evangelical witness in the Pacific Northwest occurred in the decade of the 1880s, following the historic meetings of organization at Boone, Iowa, and Boston, Massachusetts in 1884. Do these terms refer to the "old self" (unregenerated person) and "new self" (regenerated person) , or to the 0 old race" (as in Adam) and "new race" (as in Christ)? Excerpt: "There are only a few references made to the minister's wife in the Bible. But there is no question about her existence. Both Matthew and Luke refer to the mother-in-lav! of Peter. Paul, in writing to Timothy, asserts that the minister is "the husband of one \.rife" (I Tim.3:2). Paul also says that the deacons' wives are to "be grave, not slanderers, sober, and faithful in all things: (I Tim. 3:11).

The one reason for the fewness of Biblical references to the minister's wife is the fact that at this early period the ministry had not become professionalized.1 That …
