The brief homily which follows was prepared as the core of a closing worship service which concluded a conference attended by US and Soviet religious leaders. The conference, entitled "The Challenges of Peace and Justice: Responses from the Religious Communities of the US and USSR," was sponsored by US-USSR Bridges for Peace of Norwich, Vermont. It was held at the Arch Street Friends Meeting, and was organized in cooperation with the American Friends Service Committee and Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of the Society of Friends. The Nebraska Neuropsychological Evaluation As A Predictor Of Learning Disabilities, Georgia A. Carpenter

The purpose of this study is to determine if children aged 7 to 10 with previously identified learning disabilities can be differentiated from comparably aged non-learning disabled children by means of the Nebraska Neuropsychological Evaluation (NENE). Sixty children in greater Portland, Oregon, were administered the NENE. Thirty of these children were previously identified as learning disabled, and 30 were not. Discriminant analysis was run on the subtests five separate times with varying stratified random samples from the total sample. The NENE was found to discriminate with between 60% and 80% accuracy. This is a three part samizdat from Moscow by an anonymous author. The circumstances under which the samizdat was obtained were quite interesting. Several years ago an American professor was approached by a Moscovite in a subway station. Not speaking any Russian he was unable to understand what the man was saying to him. As the subway train approached the Soviet stuck some crumpled paper into the American's pocket and disappeared. The professor did not realize until later that there was a developed negative of a film inside the paper. The negatives contained photos of many typed pages which, however, …

The beginning point for me in writing this course was the interest and knowledge given to me from the times I watched my father write other extension courses. After classroom as well as independent study at W.E.S. in the area of Theological Education by Extension, , I became interested in the direct application of the material learned through the teaching of Extension courses in Peru. Piaget And Parables Assimilated: A Response To Cole, James D. Foster, Glenn T. Moran
Faculty Publications - Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) Program
Dick T. Cole's critique of our integration of Piagetian learning theory and Christ's parabolic method focuses on two primary concerns. The first concern is that the Bible should not be used as data, and the second that current psychological concepts cannot be meaningfully related to biblical times. In response to these concerns it is argued that the parables are recorded lessons and not theological concepts as Cole suggests, that the underlying structure of biblical lessons is relevant to modem learning theory, and that cultural specificity does not hinder the learning process but rather is an essential part of it.
