Social Support And Well-Being In Lgbt Adults, Jessica D. Brown
Undergraduate Honors Theses
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among positive mental health, well-being, and perceived social support in individuals who identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT). The participants included 251 individuals from a rural area in the Midwest who completed an online survey; 47 of these individuals identified as LGBT. Well-Being was measured using the Warwick- Edinburg Mental Well-Being Scale (WEMWBS; Stewart-Brown et al., 2002), and perceived social support was evaluated using the Multidimensional Scale for Perceived Social Support (MSPSS; Zimet, Dahlem, Zimet & Farley, 1988). According to Freud, “the idea of being buried alive by mistake is the most uncanny thing of all” (10). He vividly describes a fear many people cannot grasp because it is too abstract to think about even though death is the indisputable consequence of being alive. Body Consciousness: The Effects Of Posture On Musicians’ Performance Anxiety, Christina Farley

The primary research question of this quasi-experimental mixed methods study investigated the effects of positive (superman) and negative (slumped) body postures on students’ individual perceptions of their performance anxiety in three settings: in front of a studio professor, in front of peers, and in a private practice session. This study took place in two phases. Phase one consisted of a 14-question survey completed by 40 music education majors. Phase two included six participants that met with the researcher individually twice for each setting. From June 8, 1744, through July 9, 1745, Ordinary’s Accounts of London’s condemned reported on a series of individuals who met a swift demise at the end of a rope at Tyburn Square, London’s execution site. Out of the countless that were hanged, the lives of ten criminals who formed an interconnected community are illuminated. They were a subset of a larger network of at least thirty criminals who engaged in thefts, robberies, prostitution, fencing of goods, and overindulgence of intoxicating spirits across London.
