The eighteenth century, known as the Age of Reason in England, saw the effect of intellectual pursuits in the Church of England. Yet, prose fiction presented Anglicanism in an overtly active, working form rather than in a rational system of theologically-oriented statements about Christian teachings. The didacticism of the century's fiction was conducive to reflecting such an image. The purpose of this dissertation is to investigate this prose fiction in terms of movements within the Church.

In chapter III, I will trace the history of the National Evangelical Lutheran Church to 1956. In chapter IV, I will cover the actual merger process to completion in January of 1964.

The basic concern of this paper is whether or not psychotherapy and theology have anything to do with each other. There is much feeling in Christian tradition about the extent to which extra-theological studies relate to theology. The present paper will not deal with the efforts which have been made to point out a dissimilarity between these fields. Rather it hypothesizes that psychotherapy and theology are, in some sense, related, and that this can be demonstrated in the terminology and meanings of pastoral counseling.

The presence of "communal meals" among the Covenanters of Qumran has given birth to the question of the relationship of these meals to the Christian Eucharist as instituted by Jesus Christ. Kuhn notes that "the Qumran texts, as well as Josephus, agree that this order had, as its peculiar features, the constantly repeated baths of immersion and the daily communal meal of the community." Josephus describes the meals of the Essenes (presently considered to be the mother group of the Qumran Convenanters).

My comments here are restricted to those biological breakthroughs that will have some theological or moralistic implications. You must, therefore, understand that this restriction eliminates an enormous number of small and some very large advances in the area of basic biological research. Detailed research, for example, on mitochondrial DNA, mechanisms for hydrogenation in photosynthesis, insect photoperiodism, bacterial taxonomy, and phosphorus metabolism by planktonic desmids will all be very exciting and will significantly advance those areas. But there are few if any direct theological; ethical, or philosophical conceptual spin-offs from such studies.

The Ahmadiyya movement in Islam takes its name from the founder of the movement, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who lived in Qadian, Punjab, India, from 1835-1908. Organized in 1889, the movement has expanded under the leadership of his successors with present headquarters in Rabwah, Pakistan.
